A bit of sweetness: One cheesecake for every occasion.

Hello steemit, after a long time I came back to write and share my recipes with you. One of my favorite recipes ever, the New York Cheesecake.

As its name suggests, it is one of the most known American sweets in the world. The ingredients used are not identical to the American version, but almost. Here in Italy it is very difficult to find some ingredients, but the alternatives are not less yummy than the original version.

Recipe

For the crust:

  • 200 g of digestive biscuits (crushed in a bag or with the help of a food processor)
  • 110 g melted butter

For the cheesecake filling:

  • 900 g of cream cheese ( philadelphia or a similar brand but without lactose, as I prefer.)
  • 200 g of sugar
  • finely grated zest of 1 limon
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 250 g of Greek yogurt (as an alternative to sour cream)
  • 3 large eggs, plus 1 yolk
  • 3 tablespoons of plain flour
  • a pinch of salt

For the topping:
As a decoration I used fresh fruit and a jam, in this case of red fruits. But you can indulge yourself with what you want and give it the flavor that best suits you.

First, preheat the oven to 180C/ 160C, in a bowl add biscuits and melted butter, prepare the base of the cake pan to dispose of the mixture obtained. Put everything in the fridge and let it cool for at least 20/30 minutes.
Meanwhile, we use another bowl to prepare the cream by combining all the ingredients listed one at a time, by hand or by helping with an electric mixer (as in my case).
Next add the cream to the base, and bake for 10 minutes at 160C, then lower the cooking temperature to 110C and let it cook for 40/50 minutes. Finished cooking, turn off the oven, and leave inside to cool the cake for two hours. After letting it cool finally we can decorate with what we like more.

A recent study has shown that the effect that sugars produce to our brain is comparable to that produced by some drugs, so bake a good dessert and say no to the abuse of any harmful or toxic substance, and enjoy your culinary masterpiece.

PS. And we should also pay attention to the consumption of sugar, that is not good for us either, but we can still afford some sin of gluttony, sometimes.
