Top 3 Places to Eat in Hawaii (Oahu)

As promised....here are the top 3 places to eat in Oahu :)

(1) Leonard's Bakery

If you've got a sweet tooth well you're in for a treat! Leonard's Bakery is home to the world famous malasadas. What is a malasada you ask? Well, think of a fried golden donut sprinkled with sugar, that's light and fluffy on the inside. The best part is you can choose from a variety of fillings for your malasada. I highly recommend the custard and coconut flavored fillings. The parking lot is small so either come early or you’ll end up parking alongside the neighborhood streets a block over.

One of the most relaxing things we did was driving around the island of Oahu. We had the windows down/music up and just soaked in the beauty around us. If we wanted to take a closer look we pulled over and just explored. Well, one of those stops happened to be a food truck stop (our stomachs wanted us to take a closer look haha).

As usual, we went on Yelp to see the popular dishes/reviews and ended up getting the Shrimp Scampi platter. The plate is served with two scoops of rice and a dozen unpeeled shrimps drizzled with garlic butter and caramelized chunks of garlic. My first bite was taking the head off the shrimp and sucking in all the juices. OMG. I WAS IN GARLIC HEAVEN. 😍

(3) Marukame Udon

When we checked into our Hilton Hotel on Waikiki Beach, we were famished and tired from the 6.5 hr flight. We couldn't decide if we should take a nap or go fill up our bellies....as you should've guessed by now, we chose FOOD of course! I had heard about Marukame from friends before so we decided to go try it out. About a block over we saw the sign for Marukame and then saw that a long line had already formed UGH! Luckily the line moves really fast as it's a cafeteria style service.

The toppings you can add onto your udon seemed endless. I ended up getting the curry udon with shrimp/veggie tempura, fried tofu, and a boiled egg (buried underneath the udon). I'm not the biggest fan of udon noodles as I prefer ramen noodles. My mind has changed after eating here! Noodles were cooked perfectly; not too chewy or mushy. Greatest thing about this bowl was the price....only $10!
