Homemade pizza
Hello fellow steemers. Pizza is one of my favorite foods. The best thing about it is it only takes a few bucks to make from scratch.
All you need is a little time to prepare for the pizza of your choice. I like to start the day before to get the dough time to ferment. To start, take a cup and a half of bread flour, 1/4 teaspoon of yeast and 3/4 teaspoons of salt. Combine the yeast with 3/4 cup of warm water. Then combine the rest of the ingredients In a large glass bowl. Mix well and let sit overnight covered in plastic wrap (Johnnie Walker is optional).
The next day mix about 1/4 cup of bread flour into the bowl and place the mixture into another well oiled bowl. Place plastic wrap on the bowl and let sit for an hour or until doubled in size. The easiest way to not mess up the dough is to cook it in a pan. Next, oil a pan (I prefer cast iron) very well and spread the dough in the pan. Note, a stone may be used if you prefer. If using a stone, use more flour instead of oil to form your pizza.
Next, are the toppings. I have my own sauce recipe that I may share in the future. Today I went with sauteed mushrooms, olives and pepperoni.
I went with mozzarella and Parmesan for my cheese.
After topping, I placed the pan on a stovetop on high heat for 2 to three minutes.
Once the bread starts to bubble at the bottom, place in a 550 degree oven for about ten minutes. I like to turn my oven on high broil for the last minute. And just like that, you will have the best homemade pizza ever! Worth a shot.
