Grill smokes, good smell and aroma of foods, cold drinks, laughters of people enjoying their night and listening to the live band performance on a summer night.   

This is the usual night of an oponganon as I participate the annual "Food Festival" at Mactan Shrine in Mactan, Cebu PHILIPPINES. 

  Food festival is being held every year in celebration of Lapu-Lapu's victory against Ferdinand Magellan way back 1521. 

  This event was participated by the entrepreneurs and food stores along Lapu-Lapu City. Also, the famous resorts and even the 5 star hotels in Lapu-Lapu City participated by catering their best dishes in their menus.

 While eating my food and watching a live band, I could really say that it was an amazing night. Watching people enjoying their food, the aura, the music, their good company of friends and family. This is how strong a bond of an oponganon is. 

  As an oponganon, I am proud that I live in this place ever since I was born. I am proud that we always celebrate the victory of Lapu-Lapu every year. We always commemorate how he won by reenacting the battle of mactan every year the "Kadaugan sa Mactan" every 27th of April. 

 As long as I'm a resident here in Lapu-Lapu, I will never stop participating and celebrating this victory every year.   

The food festival lasted April 26. There are still more events like The dancing of Reyna Bulakna April 27 and the dance showdown of different respective baranggays in the City on April 28. Both activities are to be held in Hoopsdome, Lapu-Lapu City.
