My sister just got back from the supermarket, and bought us some sweet corn for snacks. She bought it for 25 pesos for 3 pieces. Pretty expensive though, but it's okay because it tasted good and it's worth what she paid for because it's healthy as well. As a matter of fact, I'm doing this post because I am actually inspired to become one healthy individual.

The Corn

Corn is also known as Maize.

In the Filipino language, we call it 'Mais'. In a few Philippine dialects, the term that is used to call it is 'Anagon'. (I heard my grandma used the term 'Anagon' to name it, a long time ago).

Maize is a cereal grain. According to Wiki, about 10, 000 years ago, the indigenous people in southern Mexico, were the first to domesticate Maize. Furthermore, it has become a staple food in other parts of the world. It is used in the production of corn starch, corn syrup, and other corn products, as well.

Here's the remainder of the sweet corn that we had as snacks this afternoon.

Here's a useful tip, that I stumbled upon online, when buying corn:

Check that the husks are not dried out and consume the fresh corns within a few days so that the taste are still good.
