What is chontaduro and what is it for?
Chontadide has been defined as the 'vegetable egg' to highlight its important nutritional properties, as it is rich in essential amino acids, proteins, omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, fiber, vitamins A, C and D, carbohydrates, and minerals such as iron, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium.
Bactris gasipaes is a plant of the family of arecáceas. It is commonly known as pejibaye, pupuña, pipire, pijuayo, pixbae, chontaduro, cachipay, pifá, pibá, chima or tembe.
