KF 101(Korean food intro)-10 “Ddeok-galbi”
Hello~!~!~!
This time, I will tell you amazing dish! If you read my post from the 1st one, you would be familiar with the name. Yes, first post was “ddeokbokki”KF 101(Korean Food Intro)-1 “Ddeokbokki” and 5th post was “Galbi-jjim” KF 101(Korean food Intro)-5 “Galbi-jjim” .
Ddeok is rice cake or cake for us, and galbi is rib part of the meat. So Ddeokgalbi (떡갈비) is beefrib cake literally? or sometimes they even put the stick the rib on the rice cake. Well, anyway I haven’t eaten that version. I would say it is like a burger patty. Mainly, we grind the beef rib and mix it with some vegetables (onion and garlic usually with other marinating ingredients) and we make it just like a dough and grill it as a whole. So let’s take a look!
Wow, the decoration is pretty cool, the bottom green vegetable seems like a pine tree leaves, but that is only for the aroma, so i wouldn’t eat it :-P. On top of ddeokgalbi, the five things are pine nuts. Ddeokgalbi is also takes a lot of effort and time I think, so it is quite hard to eat at home often. Well, as I always told you, food is always amazing in South West (Jeonra-province), and that applies to this food too. There is a city called “Damyang 담양” is the most famous for ddeokgalbi.
I remember when I was kid, my family traveled to the South west area and had lots of this ddeokgalbi. Ah, it was so amazing. . . Well, I like to eat out in Seoul too, but yeah sometimes, it was not that good restaurant or not much special flavor. But, in Jeonra-province, I never had any issues. Just walk in any restaurant, but it is good. . .
People say do not forget to bring the stomach medicine when you travel to Jeonju which is big city and touristy city in Jeonra-province because people cannot resist and keep eating haha. I think their ingredients are really fresh and have a good flavor itself, and because of the fertile soil from the ancient time, people had very prosperous life, so the culture, traditional houses and food are all fantastic. If you ever visit Jeonra-province or even in Seoul, you should try this if you are a meat lover!
Again thank you for reading my post! Feel free to upvote, comment.
