In America, the mom and dad stores have been dying out for over a century now because fascism and other things started hurting small businesses in a variety of ways, especially in the 1930's. In other words, government started getting bigger as taxes went up along with financial fiat inflation. But with that said, Americans can buy from smaller farms.
