We tried to order Dumplings in a small restaurant in hongkong but they could not understand the word "Dumpling", with the helps of other customers we got what we want.
Not all Hong Kongers speak fluent English, especially if you are visiting a local "Cha chaan teng" 茶餐廳 (tea restaurant,) but these are the best places to taste local Cantonese food! Dumpling is "kau-tsee" in Cantonese.
That's so odd.. You could try say 'Jiaozi'. That's mandarin, not sure how to say it in Cantonese..
Usually people from Hong Kong are good with English.
