An Authentic Okinawa Restaurant in Singapore - Okinawa Dinner Nirai-Kanai
Okinawa Dinner Nirai-Kanai is a Japanese restaurant where you can experience authentic Okinawa food in Singapore.
If you are a Japanese food fan, you should know that Okinawa Cuisine is quite different from the mainland. Due to their low-fat and low-salt diet, Okinawa is the healthiest place on earth. The proportion of healthy centenarians in Okinawa has been much higher than in most parts of the world. As a small island, the diet of the people comprises mainly tofu, fish, seaweed, bitter gourd, sweet potato and so on.
The Ambiance
There is a rustic feel and the ambiance is like a village, as well as the dishes.

The Food
Stir-Fried Bitter Gourd with Pork Okinawa Beancurd & Egg
Honestly, it's the best bitter gourd dish I've had. Its bitterness balanced out by the sweetness of miso, the egg and tofu added great texture.
Deep-Fried Okinawa Beancurd
Simmered Pork Belly
The layer of fat on top may frighten you, but that's exactly what brings out the flavour of the braised pork belly. It goes together with the meaty flesh like butter on bread, melting deliciously in the mouth.

In fact, Okinawa cuisine is rather unique. I would like to go to Okinawa one day to enjoy the centenarians' stories and food.
