Have a taste of Classic Filipino Style Dish

FILIPINO STYLE: SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE

Hello Steemians! Today I'm going to share one of my delicious, easy and very affordable home-made filipino style recipe of Fish Fillet with Sweet and Sour Sauce.

The ingredients are very affordable and so easy to find in the market. Filipino dishes are known to be classic and extraordinary. You can simply try this at home by following the steps.

Here are the lists of ingredients we needed:

Fish Fillet

Sliced Garlic, Onion, and Red Bell Pepper

Corn Starch

Pineapple Juice (I used powdered juice for this recipe. It's more affordable and it has the same effect with the pure one. You can also use a pure pineapple juice if you like.)

Ketchup (I used UFC Banana Ketchup which what makes it more a Filipino style because i'm using a product that is originally made in Philippines and is really affordable. I think it is already available in some markets worldwide.)

Cooking Oil

Magic Sarap (Magic Sarap is also a product of the Philippines. I always used this when i cook. You don't have to buy different kinds spices and seasonings because it is already an all-in-one seasoning that is made with natural flavors and fresh ingredients. It really makes the food more tasty and it is also available in the market.)

Salt (Any of Iodized or Rock Salt will do, but i prefer to use iodized salt)

Fresh Egg

STEPS:

Step 1: Crack an egg in a bowl, Put a pinch of salt and pour some Magic Sarap in it and then beat it thoroughly using a fork or wire whisk.

Step 2: Slice the Fish Fillet into pieces. Any kind of slicing will do . I sliced it like this:

Step 3: Dip the piece of fillet in the beaten egg and then role it over the corn starch. Make sure that the fillet is covered with corn starch. The egg makes the corn starch stick in to the fillet.

**Step 4: **Put some cooking oil in the pan and heat it, wait until the oil is hot. Then, if the oil is hot and ready for frying, you can already put the fillet in the pan and wait until it is fried enough.

**Step 5: **So next is making the sauce. Since i am using a powdered juice in my recipe and if you also decided to use it, first put half of the pack of powder in a glass, fill the glass with water and stir it until the powder is dissolved in water. If you are using a pure pineapple juice, pour 1/2 cup of it in a glass and fill in with water and then stir it.

Step 6: Pour the juice in a pan and stirring it thoroughly, continue stirring until the juice starts to boil.

Step 7: Put the Sliced Garlic, Onion, Bell Pepper, and Ginger on the mixture. Let the mixture absorb the spices. I also added some pineapple tidbits i bought in the market for 10 pesos only.

Step 8: In a glass or bowl, put 1 1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch and pour 1/2 cup of water then mix until the corn starch dissolves in water.

Step 9: Pour the mixture of corn starch and water into the pineapple juice with spices. Mix it carefully until it becomes syrupy.

Step 10: Put some UFC Banana Ketchup on the mixture enough to make the color reddish orange like this:

Step 11: Pour some Magic Sarap in it and a pinch of salt.

Take a small part of it with a spoon and see if the blending of sweet and sour already satisfies your taste. If it tastes more sour you can also add some Sugar and mix until the blending tastes good.

And finally, you can dip your fried fillet in your Filipino Style Sweet and Sour Sauce.
