Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden
Food is a foundational part of life, and not only is it required regularly, but it is one of the most culturally connecting and enjoyable parts of life.
So many memories of family meals, holiday, party feasts, and comfort foods play a huge role in people's lives.
Here in The Garden of Eden, we also love food! It is a foundational part of what we do daily. Yes we feed thousands of free meals to people, but we also love to feast in our community together regularly.
We make a feast almost every day, some more elaborate than others. Yet we consistently have an abundance of food, and that food is always sustainable.

Today, we have prepared yet another feast, which is pretty standard around here! All the ingredients are either grown, harvested, traded for, or donated. Nothing was purchased from a store or even an outdoor market.
We're feasting on mass quantities of mashed potatoes--homemade of course! We make them extra creamy and put lots of garlic chives on them!
We also have many different types of vegetables including fresh mushrooms sautéed in coconut oil. We very commonly eat eggs for many meals as they are a super abundant, sustainable, and nutritious food source for us. We also always have big salads with raw fresh cut veggies of many kinds.
We even have stuff like parmesan cheese or hot sauce, but again it is all traded for, harvested, or donated. We are committed to only utilizing what we can acquire at the highest sustainable standards.
We of course also cook everything in our outdoor kitchen on handmade earthen rocket stoves using salvaged trash wood. These are just some of the many ways we are able to live at a negative zero carbon footprint! Our guest just asked if we ever go out to restaurants. "Why would you since you're food is soooo delicious!?!" I think I'll go have another helping!!
Who needs to waste money at a bland, boring restaurant when we can harvest dinner from the yard and cook it over fire?? MMMmmmm

I love this so much I don't even know where to start! Thank you for spreading the word about our food sustainability. It's everything. This is such an important message that I believe needs to get out there! We can eat and enjoy our food without the destruction and chaos that comes from conventional food habits and this is a great post to share that, thank you :)

Such an amazing way to live and an inspiration to us all! Growing and trading food is how it should be done. It's healthier for us and better for our environment. Sadly this culture seens to have been lost in favour of store bought convenience food....much of which can't even be classed as food. Your food looks amazing though :)
Thank you @katem! Yes it is amazing to see what passes for food in stores and restaurants these days. Grateful to live an alternative to that, as our food is of MUCH higher quality & value!
It's also incredible to consider how few people know about food and plants anymore, whereas it was once common knowledge. We spend a lot of time sharing the knowledge to reconnect people to their roots! Plants are super nutritious and healing, and even "weeds" can be really good for humans, you just have to recognize what you're picking and know how to consume it.
