Food-trail is alive!

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Some of you may have noticed that food-trail is alive and making posts, comments, and replies. Well you aren't seeing things. Food-trail is alive again. Food-trail is here to reward the best posters in the food and related categories. If you want to get a vote from food-trail, you should know there are few criteria that I look for:

Originality: In any food-related field originality is big. I'm not saying you necessarily have to post your own recipe, but if you're going to take a page from "The Joy of Cooking" then please at least give credit where credit is due. I'm also not saying that if you see a lemonade related post that you don't want to make another lemonade related post, making another one with a different twist is fine. However, If you're thinking of taking someone else's hard work and posting it as your own then just..... don't. I've seen a lot of plagiarism lately going through these posts. It seems to be running rampant and it's fairly easy to spot.

Creativity: Keep in mind that there's a real person reading and voting for these posts. Posting something boring and unexciting doesn't make anyone smile. Be creative!

Effort: Posting one paragraph or just a few lines of text with one picture of a bowl of soup is not a lot of effort. A post like that is not likely to get a vote from me. On the other hand, showing step by step instructions with lots of text along the way in between several sets of well photographed pictures will definitely make me smile and is likely to get you a vote and a comment.

Another thing I'd like to say is that food-trail is interested in helping and encouraging minnows and young dolphins. If you have half a million steem power, you are unlikely to get a vote even though your post may be fantastic. I apologize for that, but you just may well get a comment with a thumbs up anyway.

Finally I would like to add full disclosure here: I am the new curator of the food-trail. if you spoke to someone months ago about food-trail, then that person was not me. Food-trail is alive again and the curator is @jeezzle. You might actually see a few comments from that account also. Feel free to follow either @food-trail or @jeezzle and expect to get a follow in return.

Happy fooding and keep the good posts coming!

Good idea, I want to join!

I will be on the lookout for some good food-related posts from you olegst.

Thank You :)

Awesome creation!

Thank you very much cheffil, I would love to see you add some more text to your posts, maybe with a personal touch. Both of the recipes you have posted so far look really good, but they are a bit short. I'll keep looking for great posts from you!

Welcome back ;-)

I appreciate that amy-goodrich, it looks like your blog posts have been doing well. I look forward to reading more of them.

I totally agree with everything you have said. I always acknowledge when someone else has given me a recipe, idea or tip. You will see that if you have read my Tips of the Day. However, if I have significantly altered a recipe, or idea, then I consider it to be mine. The loaded potatoes brunch dish, posted on Sunday, came from a dish cooked for me by my American friends. I adapted is as I am wont to do so therefore, my dish. I hope you agree? I have placed this here because I thought it would highlight your argument behind plagiarism. Excellent post. XX

I definitely agree. You're doing a great job and I hope I'll be seeing some of your great food related posts again soon.

Thank you for your reply. I think I will concentrate on providing recipes from my vast repertoire, to go along with my Tips. My only concern though; and perhaps you can help me with this (ethically), I cannot afford to buy the ingredients at the moment to photograph the steps. I can though give full written instructions. Will this be suitable, or must I do step by step? I planned to do a full image recipe once a week, on a Sunday. In the week, would it be ok to just 'instruct'? X

I think just instructions are OK once in awhile, but you can also use a copyright free site like www.pixabay.com to find some copyright free images that you can use. In my opinion, it is always preferable to use images when you can.

Thank you food-trail, I did think of that as I use the images from there for my other blogs. I was just concerned that I was not giving clear photographic instructions with the recipes, as with my Sunday posts. X

I agree with you. Personally, I like to look around posts for food recipe just because that I love cooking. I grow up in Thailand. I know very well about Thai food and I can't wait to share the recipes with everyone. At the same time, I'm eager to learn how to cook other recipes from different cultures, the recipes that I've never tasted before. So a clear Step by Step recipe will be very helpful for me. I did follow @food-trail and will follow @jeezzle in a min :)

I thank you and have followed you back on both accounts. I would really love to see some of your Thai cooking skills in action.

That's a really neat idea. It sounds nice to have someone out there trying to recognize good food on here. Recipes and food are large topics. Good luck with your work and thanks for checking out my cake!

Your posts are always interesting marxrab, and that cake was really something else.

Glad to see you are alive! :D

Thanks, my friend! Also, thanks for reading my post!

Great post, will definitely be on the lookout for more
