Roselle | Hibiscus | Zobo - Health Benefits
Great day to you and welcome to my blog! It feels good to have you around today.
This post is about a flower Roselle or Hibiscus popularly known as zobo in Nigeria. It's health benefits are numerous and I will be listing some here, after which I will give you recipe on how to make your zobo drink, rich in nutrients.
Some Benefits of Roselle or Hibiscus (Zobo)
Zobo has the ability to reduce high blood pressure.
It enhances weight loss, great for those who want to keep fit and is also good for mothers who are trying to lose 'baby fat'.
It is used in the treatment of cold and cough.
It boosts immune system.
Zobo drink can also be taken to quench taste instead of artificial commercial "sports drinks". It also cleanses the body of excess fluids.
Roselle or Hibiscus can be made into wine, juice, drinks, raw salads but I will be giving you the simple recipe of how to make your drink from it.
Get your Roselle or Hibiscus (Zobo) leaves of desired quantity.
Rinse out and remove dirt.
Put in a pot, add water and boil for 15 minutes.
Set down the pot, sieve the liquid out with a filter and place the leaves in the pot once more and boil for 10 minutes.
(I recommend boiling the leaves again with water instead of adding just water to the liquid gotten from your first boiling)
Your zobo drink is ready. You can add zobo flavoured sweeteners to enhance the taste.
Bottle and refrigerate (best served chilled).
This is the zobo drink but I prefer boiling mine with sliced pineapple and a little cuts of fresh ginger to increase the nutrients and enhance the taste. You can enjoy your zobo drink with snacks and meals also.
Other pictures are mine, taken with my FujiFilm camera.
It is better and safer to eat more healthy foods in order to stay healthy!
Until I post again, remain healthy, eat healthy!
Nice post. Zobo is also refreshing aside its nutritious components.
Yes, I find it refreshing too!
Well I suppose I can’t use the Hibiskus you get as flowers in stores, right?
No, you can't. It has to be Roselle Hibiscus.
