Hydroponics Market Expected To Show Tremendous Growth In Years To Come

in #food7 years ago

Over the last several years,

the market has seen the rise of the conscious consumer; with a growing number of consumers demanding transparency and taking a more active interest in knowing where the goods come from that they buy and what goes into them.

Consumers have already demonstrated that they are willing to pay more when they believe that those products are made ethically or made with higher quality ingredients etc. We can see this with the increase in popularity surrounding things like grass-fed beef, a variety of organic food options, with free-range or pasture-raised eggs and more.

A growing number of consumers are also looking to get food that is locally grown. And that's prompted large grocery stores, like Target, to respond to the trend by conjuring a plan to put a vertical garden right in the middle of their store.

Hydroponics has been around for a long time, but it's been regaining popularity lately as more people around the world look to growing with this method. Thanks to the increase in demand surrounding this method of growing, a variety of hydroponic systems have come to market that make it relatively easy for beginners to get started with growing this way.

One of them in particular,..

is the GrowChef. The GrowChef offers consumers the opportunity to get their own indoor garden started with ease, as it can be installed just about anywhere in the home. The GrowChef is expected to start shipping next year and it's a hydroponics design that comes with a convenient subscription refill pod service. The design of the garden allows for about 51 different plants to be grown in a very small amount of space and greens can easily be harvested on a daily basis; the produce can be grown in different stages

Considering that this growing method can provide farmers with an option to grow year-round and offers people a chance to grow even though they don't have the traditional land space to do so, it's easy to see why so many are turning to learn about this growing method.

According to a recent report from Scalar Market Research, they estimate that the hydroponic market will show impressive growth thanks to rising food demand around the world coupled with a rise in the prevalence of diseases. Though hydroponics is believed to be a superior growing method in the way of cutting down on pests and diseases, this growing method is still not immune to every pest and disease that is out there.

Hydroponics is a popular growing method for a variety of crops: tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, strawberries, herbs, lettuce, and more.

At the moment, Europe is said to hold the highest market share when it comes to hydroponics. Not only do they hold the highest market share, but they also are the largest revenue contributor in the market. After Europe, North America is showing the most solid growth.

The hydroponic market specifically is expected to show solid growth for the next several years, the global market is expected to reach around $400 million by 2020.

I have never been a Gardener but since reading an article about urban farms where people use hydroponic bays to grow lettuce and other produce. I've been fascinated with it I wonder if there is a small kit I can get to start myself off with an in House Farm

Look no further! Ikea actually has indoor growing kits:

Thanks will look into that

Indeed, it slowly gain popularity and integrated into urban farming. With limited space in the city, hydroponics and aquaponics do help the farming a lot. In terms of space utilization, increased yield, pesticide free, rich nutrient, water efficient and most importantly consistent supply. Support urban farming and improve food security :)

Oh wow, I was looking exactly for something like that. I started some months ago to be very conscious about what I eat and this can be a huge resource to support my new habits. On the top of that, it reduces the ecological impact a ton! Thanks for sharing :D

@doitvoluntarily - What a coincidence. I was discussing growing veggies with my mother and wife at breakfast today. My mother is an enthusiastic gardner but these days, can not do much outdoors because of her health issues. This will be perfect method. I also think that this method will catch on fast because people can obviously see controlled ingredients being used for growing the produce. For the product available in market, we really do not know if polluted water has been used to grow them.
Thanks. Interesting and informative blog. Upvoted.

what you can get is a reversed ro filter which will purify it

Very cool concept. Those people that live in the north could consistently produce vegetables indoors . Great post. 🐓🐓

Passed the word on to a couple of people that live up north, about the hydroponics. Could make cabin fever a thing of the past! 🐓🐓

Hydroponics is awesome. The first time i started hydro i noticed the biggest difference in the taste. So pure and organic. I can't wait for the next batch!

Excellent news dear friend @doitvoluntarily, a very interesting post, there is more and more information on how to make better health products for our organism, not to mention the possibility of planting large quantities in little space, with this system does not deplete the air space .
Thank you for sharing this interesting news.
I wish you a great week

As long as it isn't gmo, business will boom.

@doitvoluntarily A couple of years ago they were just thinking of making this work with electric pumps. Now they have improved the idea and agriculture will be renamed because of this.
