Watermelon Fruit Basket
This is a beautiful way to serve fresh fruit at any gathering -- and is deceivingly simple to create!
Ingredients
- 1 Watermelon
- Variety of other fruits (your choice!)
Directions
- Rinse the outside of the watermelon and pat dry.
- Using a utility knife, slice a large watermelon wedge out of the upper right and the upper left sides (leave a thick arch attached in between the wedges to act as the basket handle).
- Remove the edible flesh from the wedges to use later in the basket, and discard the wedge rinds.
- Also remove the watermelon flesh from beneath the basket handle with your knife.
- Using a melon baller or an ice cream scoop, remove the watermelon flesh from the bottom part of the basket.
- [Optional] If desired, you can add more detail to your basket with a paring knife...here are a few examples that look nice...I chose the triangle design.
- Wash and slice other fruits.
- Fill watermelon basket with the assorted fruit slices.
- Cover with cling wrap and place in refrigerator until ready to serve.
