Funky Beverages You May Not Be Drinking

Who doesn't love a funky drink? Something exotic with a little umbrella, or maybe some smokey dry ice bubbling in the center of a fruity concoction with a big chunk of pineapple wedged on the rim of the glass. Well these drinks probably aren't that exciting. They don't even contain alcohol. They are however funky, different and delicious.

Most of these drinks you might never have heard of, especially if you live in the U.S. I live in Guam, and we get a swirling confluence of different cultures that provides us with a bevy of different products. I've broken the drinks down into several different categories.

Coconut Water Category
T.A.S. Brand Young Coconut Juice With Pulp ~ Refreshing and fairly sweet with nice small chunks of young coconut pulp. Product of Thailand.

Milk Category
Taro Milk Drink. Sweet, but not as sweet as the can would imply. Delicious taro flavor with a full bodied milk taste. If it's made with taro, it's probably yummy. Product of Taiwan.

Milk Tea Category
Assam Melon Milk Tea and Assam Strawberry Milk Tea. These milk teas, honeydew and strawberry flavored, have the perfect balance of milk, tea and fruit flavoring. Super refreshing and not too sweet. Product of Taiwan.

Juice Category
Gina Mango Nectar. On the sweet side, but great mango flavor. Product of the Philippines.
Calamansi Tropical Lemon Drink. A very delicious lightly sweet tropical drink made from calamansi juice. Product of Taiwan.

Guilt-Free Tea Category
Oi Ocha Unsweetened Green Tea. The best green tea you will ever drink. Product of Japan.
Kaisi Oolong Tea Unsweetened. The best oolong tea you will ever drink. Product of Taiwan.

Iced Coffee Category
Mr. Brown Iced Coffee. Vanilla, Caramel Latte and Macadamia Nut flavors. Typically I'm a brewed coffee drinker, but these are wonderful and refreshing on a hot afternoon, especially when you need a little pick-me-up after a big lunch. Product of Taiwan.

Bizarro Category
Chiao Kuo Grass Jelly Drink Banana Flavored. Say what? That was my reaction the first time a friend told me to try it. Lightly sweet banana flavor with chunks of jellies. Great textural mouth feel and very tasty. Product of Taiwan.
