HOW TO DO A QUICK SHOPPING ๐- SELF-CHECKOUT UNITS ๐ต๐ณ๐ฐ๐จ๐

Yesterday I went for the first time to the supermarket (where I usually go ) after their renovation. I must say they did a really great job, making it fresh, clean, nice and pretty. What surprised me the most, as I have never seen this kind of thing anywhere before, is that they have placed self-checkout machines there.I noticed them when I was standing in a line to the cashier.
There were two women before me, I thought it will be quick but it took much longer than I expected. One of the woman's items she inten to buy didn't have a barcode so the cashier's worker couldn't swipe it. She had to ask her co-workers what to do, in the end they all started discussing the problem so I decided to just go and try this self-checkout unit out.
There was a consultant holding shopping bags in her hands, she was standing next to these machines in case if customers will need to buy them. When I came up to one of the machines she told me to put all of the products I picked to the right side of the unit.
As I understood later, the weight of these products should match with everything I will have to scan and put to the left side of the unit.If everything matches then I am allowed to proceed further and pay.
As you can see there are several ways you can choose to make the payment:
If you choose to pay via wechat or alipay all you have to do is opening the payment code and place it here :
Machine will scan the code and proceed the payment.
You will later get a receipt from here, that will have to be stamped by the guard at the exit of the supermarket.
Scanning was fun! It was very quick and easy to do, the whole process went smoothly, it's oddly satisfying to hear this sound : beep, beep, beep๐๐๐
What I liked about self-checkout machine is that you don't have to line up and wait god knows how long plus you get to put stuff you bought in any order you like it to be put.Usually here workers in stores put light stuff on the bottom and the heavy on the top ๐
I don't think that now in Kazakhstan we have this kind of units and in China I haven't seen them before. However, I know it has been very popular worldwide
The guy's name who invented these machines is David R.Humble.The number of self-checkout units is estimated to reach 325,000 by 2019 year.

Yeah, I like them. Especially when the store is packed and all the check out lines are full. Since I usually pay with a debit card, I find them very convenient. Some of them also take paper money. Another thing I noticed is that some places are taking payment through cell phones. I'm not sure if paying with your cell phone is a good thing.
Why not?I always only use my cell phone to make a payment - be it a small store,big supermarket,street food,coffee shop,restaurants practically everywhere!It's super convenient,you don't have to worry about taking out cash or bringing your wallet with credit cards,you just use something you always have in your pocket - your phone ๐ฑ
Good point, the less you carry, the less you can lose. My biggest concern is getting hacked and someone depleting my account.

We have self-checkouts all over the United States. You can ever order and pay for your fast food at what is called a Kiosk without ever talking to a person.
That's cool!Im sure here in China they had these self-checkouts for quite some time,it's just I haven't seen and used them before ๐
They've had these in Canada the past few years. A lot of the times one thing wouldn't scan and you would have to call over an employee. Far from perfect just yet but a cool innovation nonetheless! I'm looking forward to Amazon's new technology Amazon Go. They've removed checkouts completely.
I was afraid it will be like that as well,but I didn't have to call anyone over once,everything went so smoothly and super quick!I need to read about the Amazon Go;)

I've just watched it and it blew my mind hahaha It's sooo cool,I always wonder how can people invent these things?!I have no idea how many years it will take for it to appear in Kazakhstan๐

I'm in the US and these are in every large grocery store in my area now. Walmart has their app that you can feed in your credit or debit information then scan a QR code on the POS screen to pay. I heard that Sam's club has their app that allows you to scan your goods as you get them, hit pay on the app, then show your receipt on your phone at the door. No lines, no muss, no fuss. I read that Walmart is trialing something similar.
I find them convenient, sure, but sometimes I don't mind talking with someone and letting them do the scanning for a change. lol! Thank you so much for sharing! Upvoted!
They are making it more and more convenient for people, saving precious time, but I agree sometimes it feels good to just have a little conversation with somebody and interact ๐
