My Favourite Energy Boosting Drink: Beetroot, Apple, Carrot Smoothie
This is a very simple and easily digestable drink that I make every day for boosting energy. It only takes 5 minutes to prepare and I only use three ingredients plus ice water.
The ingredients contained in this recipe have the following health benefits:
Beetroot
• Beetroot contains an ingredient called betain that protects liver damage and help the liver process fats
• Has an antioxidant that provides anti-inflammatory and detoxification
• Beetroot is packed with potassium that is essential for basic functions of the body, maintains body fluid and its key to stronger bones. It also has folate and fibre.
Apples
Have the following health benefits
• Lowering levels of bad cholesterol
• Warding off breast cancer
• Granny Smiths appeared to have the most beneficial effect on good gut bacteria.
• Preventing dementia
• Lowering risk of stroke.
Carrots
• Contain antioxidants that reduce cancer and cardiovascular disease
• Carrot juice extract was shown to kill leukemia cells and inhibit their progression
• Can help with blood sugar regulation
• Boost immunity system
• Delay the effects of aging
• Contain beta carotene which is said to help with vision.
THE RECIPE
Preparation Time 5 Mins
Ingredients
• 1 medium red beetroot (about ⅔ cup)
• 2 medium apples preferably - Granny Smiths type
• 2 medium sized carrots
• 2 tsp fresh ginger
• 2 ½ cups ice water
Instructions
• Scrub, peel and finely grate beetroot.
• Grate the apples and carrots.
• Mince the ginger
• Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Process until smooth.
