It's Still OK (and probably better) When it Doesn't Come from the Supermarket

in #food7 years ago

Today we have the convenience of having pretty much whatever vegetable and whatever fruit at any time of year for really decent prices. This is a bit new - it used to be that off-season vegetables and fruits were far too expensive for the average household to be able to buy - yeah, it's likely you might not even remember that time.

Will all of that convenience we've been robbed of the privilege of taking food from our own trees and gardens and eating it right there when you pick or harvest it.

An apple seems to be far more sweet and juicy tasting when you've pulled it off the tree yourself.

Even though you might now be accustomed to going to the supermarket for all your fruits and veggies it's not harmful usually to eat the right off the tree, bush , vine or however they grow.

There are so many places where blackberry brambles grow and yet most of the fruit they produce goes to feed the bird or bugs or just falls to the ground and rots.

In the first world many people have forgotten that the bounty of nature is truly the best.

Here I'm sharing a shot of the apple I picked off of a tree that grows seemingly wildly along the train tracks. It was so sweet and fresh and I will revisit the tree next week for more!
