Verdict is…
HI friends,
The other day I picked up some special beef - Piedmontese cattle breed, which was grass fed and supposed to be as tender as prime beef, but with less fat, so a healthier form of steak. I wanted to put that to the test and see if I agree.
I picked up two ribeyes, one each for my wife and I, though she only eats a third of the steak leaving leftovers for me :) I made hot dogs for the kids, which they were thrilled with as well.
Here are the steaks and the dinner plate:
The verdict is: The Piedmontese was good, but not as good or tender as prime beef by a long shot.
It is a bit game-ire, and has a little different flavor, but it is a good taste and a lean piece of meat. I do like the fat so I don’t think I will be making a change to this brand of cattle, especially when it is $25 more per pound.
I am glad I gave it a try though.
