Matar Paneer (Green Peas and Curd Cheese)
Hello Friends,
Today I am with the recipe of Matar Paneer (Green Peas and Curd Cheese).
Mostly it is very popular among vegetarian people. It is usually cooked in family get together and some parties. Here is the recipe. Hope you like it. I love spices, so usually I use more spices than given measurements but you can reduce or increase as per your taste. The given measurements are normal.
Ingredients (For 4 people):
Paneer 250 gram
Boiled green peas 100 gram
Curd 150 ml
Tomato 3 medium size
Onion 1 medium size
Garlic 8 cloves
Ginger 1 medium size
Cumin Seeds ½ teaspoon
Chopped Coriander 1 tablespoon
Chopped Green Chilly 1 tablespoon
Cumin Powder 1 teaspoon
Turmeric Powder ½ teaspoon
Salt 1 teaspoon (according to taste)
Red Chilli Powder ½ teaspoon
Oil 1 tablespoon
Water 150 ml
Garam Masala (Powder of Cardamom and Clove) 2 pinch
Mix tomato, onion, garlic and ginger in a mixture and make it a paste.
Heat the pot. Add oil. After the oil is heated, put cumin seeds and let it be fried until it turn brown.
Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder. Be careful to reduce the flame as at this point hot oil will burn your spices.
Add tomato, onion, garlic and ginger paste. Cover the lid. Let it be cooked for 3 minutes in medium heat. Check and use spatula so that mixture will not be burned.
Add green chillies to the cooked paste. Then add water and let it be boiled.
Now add boiled green peas. Cover the lid and let it be cooked for 4 minutes.
Reduce the flame to very low. Add slowly curd and mix with spatula right at the moment. After mixing properly, increase the flame. Cover the lid for 2 minutes.
Add paneer, mix it well. Add garam masala and again mix. Then cover the lid for another 2 minutes. Turn off the flame. Add coriander leaves and cover the lid for another 2 minutes.
WOW, now your paneer is ready. Garnish with coriander leaves. Have it with rice, beaten rice, puffed rice, rice pudding or roti.
I could taste it as I was reading your instructions. That looks so delicious and fresh. I have made this before. But I think I need to make it again :)
Thanks doctorcrypto. Hope to make more recipes that makes same feeling.
Do you make your own paneer? If so, how many liters of milk? 2?
1 Litre of Milk can make around 200 gm Paneer. But it depends on quality of milk. Buffalo milk yields more than cow milk.
