3 Vegan Hotspots in Amsterdam! | AstridinAmsterdam
Although I don’t live in the big city myself and I consider myself far from local, I thought I would take some time to share some of my favorite vegan hotspots with you!
#1: Restaurant Spirit
Located at Cszaar Peterstraat in Amsterdam (Oost), Spirit is located in one of my favorite areas of Amsterdam. It is located close to a local beer brewery, so you might go there if you fancy a beer afterwards (recommend this especially during summer).
Spirit offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan foods, ranging from breakfast, lunch and dinner and coffee with cake. Coffee and cake are sold per item, but for a meal you pay per plate. The price of breakfast is slightly less than for lunch and dinner; dinner comes at €2,95/100g. The weight of your plate is subtracted from what you pay, of course.

#2 Mr. And Mrs. Watson
Vegan food is booming! Fairly new in the game are Mr. and Mrs. Watson. Located at Linnaeuskade, Mr. and Mrs Watson opened their doors in September 2017. They are not here to play: they won a PETA award for best vegan cheese only a few months after opening.
I have to be honest here: I haven’t had a chance to visit here myself YET. My mom had the opportunity to visit shortly after they opened and she’s been raving about them ever since. Especially the vegan lasagna seemed to be a game changer.
Try: Beforementioned vegan lasagna and their cheese platter
Additional tips:
- Making a reservation is must given that this place tends to be packed!
- Closed on Mondays

#3 Vegan Junkfood Bar
A favorite of yours truly. I might have only had the possibility to visit once, but this place blew my mind. And it seems I am not the only one: it’s been less than 1 year and the owner of this place is already opening a third bar!
Visiting their location Staringplein 22, near Vondelpark, on a nice Summer’s evening, you know you’re in for a treat. A double vegan burger for €12,95 that I couldn’t finish seemed like just the right thing I needed after a week of full time work over my summer break.
Now also located with a full fledged restaurant at Marie Heinekenplein, I recommend checking out their menu and making me jealous with all those delicious food pics you’re taking. Damn…
