RE: Canceled Appointment With The Scale
Well, I wouldn't call it bad food, maybe not so healthy (at least for me at the moment, as the term "not so healthy" also might be debatable, especially having in mind that the same food might be extremely healthy for one person and poisoning for another or vice versa).
However, I didn't throw it away and in general I don't throw food away.
You know, I was raised by my grandma who survived two world wars and her rule No 1 was - never ever throw food away!
She said, there was not (human) food that can't be used this way or another. As a little girl, I didn't understand why she is so strict about it. Once I asked her about it and she simply replied: "People who didn't face the hunger, don't understand that, so consider yourself lucky, but take my word for it!" I still didn't get it, but seeing her so serious, I decided not to bring up that topic again.
Several years later, unfortunately, I found myself in the situation to understand pretty well what and why she was talking about, as well why she was so persistent and stubborn about a certain food that should always be stocked in the house at least in some portion.
In other words, I can understand that people who didn't face the real hunger, went to the store with empty shelves where there is nothing to buy no matter how much money you are holding in your wallet, don't understand it and still have that luxury to easily chose the option of throwing away food for whatever reason.
