GREEN SMOOTHIE OF THE DAY | MINTY ARUGULA PINEAPPLE MORNING KICK 🌿🍍🌺

Mornings can be so beautiful and peaceful in Cambodia. I just love them. Are you a morning person too? If not you are missing out on some amazing sunrises ;) And according to research, it is good for your health to be an early riser. Read my previous post about becoming a morning person HERE

Whether you are a morning person or not, a green smoothie for breakfast is alwways a good and healthy idea. Even if you like to sleep in. Adding one green drink to your daily life is the best way to: energize, cleanse, alkalize, nurture, and balance your body. Something as simple as adding one green smoothie to your daily diet will hugely benefit your overall health.

They are packed with: antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber, and many other disease- and fat-fighting phytonutrients.

A green smoothie and this view (see pic below) make an ideal morning for me. Couldn't start any better!

ARUGULA PINEAPPLE MORNING KICK 🌿🍍🌺


Though many people might not think of arugula as a smoothie ingredient, it is a super delicious, nutty, and antioxidant-rich addition to your morning drink. Give it a go and be amazed by it's wonderful added flavor. Not a fan of arugula or a green taste, use more spinach instead.

INGREDIENTS (SERVES 2 FOR BREAKFAST)


1 cup spinach
1 cup arugula
Fresh mint to taste
Fresh turmeric and ginger to taste
1 banana, frozen to add extra creaminess and chill the smoothie
2 to 3 passionfruit
1.5 cup pineapple
1/2 avocado
2 tbsps extra virgin coconut oil
2-3 cup water
Optional toppings: chia seeds and goji berries

DIRECTIONS

  1. Blend arugula, spinach, mint, and water until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and blend again. If the smoothie is too thick, add more water and blend again until smooth. If you have a high-speed blender you can throw in everything at once.
  2. Optional: Top with chia seeds and goji berries or other superfoods/toppings you like.

Almost 4 years now. Love it here. You are in the states right?

Yes in the Chicago area. I would love to move to another country at some point in my life. My kids are getting closer to being independent and who knows maybe I’ll be adventurous.

Lol... it is nice to spend some time in a totally different country with a different background and culture. Do you have any country or continent in mind where you would want to move too?

I'm not sure. My husband is from Bangladesh but I'm not certain we would spend a long amount of time there. I haven't had the opportunity to travel much so once I retire I am hoping to see more of the world and decide on a place to stay for a while.

Nice. Travel is always good. Though our cat is too old for travel now so we plant to stay in Cambodia for a while. In a few years, we want to travel other parts of the world and see where we want to settle down.

Thank you! Yes, I'm a green smoothie person because it helps me to get my veggie intake for the day in the morning :) My basic set contains cucumebr, mint, spinach, avocado and a green apple. Sometimes I'd add broccoli, kiwi, coconut water, other greens...basically whatever I is available in the fridge.

Same here... I love very green smoothie with lots of veggies but my hubby isn't too fond of it so I tend to add more fruits. I just love celery in smoothies.

Same here. Too bad it isn't easy available out of SR. Always buy it when I see it here. Gonna try and grow some of my own.

There is an organic farm close to Ubud (Bali) and also a supermarket in Ubud where you can buy it :D
