CHOCOLATE BOWLS
CHOCOLATE BOWLS
Chocolate bowls are handy treats for holding candies, other chocolates, truffles, berries, strawberries, wafers and more.
They're easy to make using balloons and you can make as many as you like, this recipe makes at least 6 bowls.
I have made mine with delicious soft vanilla ice cream, fresh berries topped with crushed nuts and home made chocolate decorations.
Ingredients :
250g dark, quality chocolate (or white or milk, depending on what you're making)
50 gr white chocolate
balloons
vegetable spray
Nuts (optional)
Berries ( optional)
Vanilla Ice cream (optional)
Directions
Step 1: Fill each balloon with air. The balloon should not be blown any larger than 6-8 inches (15-20cm). Tie off with a knot.
Step 2 : Spray each balloon with a vegetable spray; this will make it much easier to remove the set chocolate bowl at the end.
Step 3 : Line a tray with parchment paper.
Step 4 : Melt or temper the chocolate. Either place into the microwave to melt or use a double boiler (bain marie). If you do use a microwave to melt it, do not overcook the chocolate. Do it in 30 second breaks.
Step 5 : Allow the chocolate to cool for about 5-10 minutes until it doesn't feel so warm when you touch it. The balloons will burst if the chocolate is too warm.
Step 6 : Take the balloon out and allow any excess chocolate to drip onto your parchment paper, or place a table spoon of chocolate in a middle where you will be placing your bowl.
Step 7 : Leave to set. Place the chocolate balloons in a cool, dry place to set.
Step 8 : Melt your milk and white chocolate, place in zip lock bags and create different shapes on a parchment paper. Make sure its thick, otherwise they will break. Leave to set.
Step 9 : Remove the bowls from the balloons. Gently make a hole with scissors and let the air out. Don't rush this part or the bowls may blow apart
Step 10 : Fill the bowls with the delicacy of your choice. Suitable additions include small fruits such as strawberries or blueberries, a fruit salad for dessert, small cookies, truffles, little chocolates, candies, etc. You might even scoop in some mousse, cold custard or ice cream.

Just the fact that I wouldn't have to wash dishes makes this appealing to me!! I bet it tastes great, and it looks amazing.!
Another creative treat. I love chocolate. I've had waffle cones and waffle bowls, but a chocolate bowl would be great. Good for ice cream, I hope. Thanks.
