Food for the Soul #1 -A day in Cape Town, V&A foodmarket, Woodies Burgers and Gelato in the evening!
I was in Cape Town earlier this week and boy did I have a good time!
I found myself roaming the V&A food market.
Situated at the famous V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa, the V&A food market is just off the wharf. You can grab your food inside and sit outside to a beautiful view with seagulls soaring everywhere, or sit inside where the buzz of the place is always lively!
Apart from the numerous choices you have, this place probably has the best damn burgers in Cape Town! Just my opinion, or is it?
Let's journey through the food market and see what it's all about. The variety and choice selection it has is absolutely incredible. There's a little something for everyone. From Thai to Sushi to Indian Cuisine, to Turkish Delights, the possibilities are endless and believe me you want a bit of everything. it's just a pity the body can't handle all of it.
There are two floors in the market, the bottom predominantly has all the bakery, snacky items, ice cream, coffee, drinks etc. The top then has the majority of the food joints.
Let us begin with Dr Juice. You simply pick the mix of fruits and he throws it into his blender for some pure joy. Dr Juice is even kind enough to warn you that 'fresh raw juices can seriously improve your health!' How kind of Dr Juice. :)
A few other interesting places downstairs included below:
Lua Rolls(a Sushi type of rice filling roll)
Nigiro Tea Merchants(tea accessories for the Tea Lovers)
Lucy's Tea and Confectionery(Delightful rusks, Macaroons and a wide selection of Tea's to choose from!)
The one that really caught my eye as an Indian, is the Gourmet Samosserie! As a Samoosa lover, I have never seen this many intricate Samoosa options!
Look at the selections below!
It was time to head upstairs!
From the many selections my heart was set on Woodies! The best damn burgers, so they say.
Naturally, as an Indian, I ordered the Chilli basting single patty burger, with some fries.
As I waited for my order I walked around and had a look at the numerous options. As well as the view from the top.
15 Minutes later the best damn burger was ready and boy was it great! It had a superb amount of flavour, flavour that never seemed to end and everyone knows that a great burger is accompanied by crispy, perfectly salted fries! This burger is one of the best I have ever had and definitely gets a 9 out of 10. If you like home made ground beef patties with tons of flavour, Woodies is the place for you!
Cape Town surely is a lively City with great food and a friend of mine insisted we get some ice cream in the evening. Gelato Mania is where we ended up. Situated in green point, Gelato Mania boasts 28 flavours of home made Gelato ice cream bound to make your taste buds sing!
With so much variety it took forever to decide what to have.
Eventually I settled on trying their home made waffles with a scoop of Gelato Snicker ice cream.
It's safe to say I will be returning to Gelato Mania again!
