RE: HOW MUCH PROTEIN SHOULD I TAKE DAILY?

in #fitness7 years ago

Well... it kind of depends on your goals don't you think? The average person needs .5-.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight (that's lean body mass also. If you're 180 pounds of lean mass but 240 pounds of human body then you wouldn't want to consume 240+ grams of protein per day, fat doesn't benefit from protein.)
If you're a world class bodybuilder and weigh 250 pounds at 7% body fat then sure, you need 1.5 per lb. That's still quite a bit and it's not only a waste of money and a loss of protein, it can cause problems for people who are predisposed to kidney issues. People who are predisposed to kidney issues, like kidney stones, preferably consume in the .5-.8 range.
You didn't specify who needs to consume 1-1.5 grams of protein, you didn't specify to reach what goal, you're just recommending that EVERYBODY eats that much protein? Even if your daily fitness regime is tantric sex yoga in front of the zen garden? Honestly submissions need a little more meat than "do this". Specially in a fitness sub forum where people exchange fitness advice and tips. This tip is equivalent to me saying "IF YOU DRIVE A CAR, GET REALLY HARD TIRES WITH NO THREADS"

I agree that @iqqyhaque didn't specify his audience very well. But @galactictoast I think the quantities he recommended are fine for 85% of people who are looking for a daily protein intake guide.

Anything relating to your own health should be cross referenced with other sources. Always. So, if he brings it to their mind, and they research on... Good work @iqqyhaque, you've done your job.

In future Galactic, try adding your extensions of his information in a way that doesn't belittle him ;) but gives readers the information they need.

All the best boys, have a good one!

Hey Harry, I think the quantities he recommended are for 10% of people, probably even less. I'd go as far as to say that any NATURAL body builder needs much less than the figures given. Next time try expressing your opinions in a way that is factual and correct. I've done this stuff for many many years. Powerlifting, bodybuilding, natural, not natural. I know the numbers, I know the foods, I know the exercises. It's not an extension of information. It's THE information that should have been posted under a title such as "How much protein should I take in daily" You'd be surprised how little protein you need. All it's good for anyways is the amino acids, your body literally hates breaking it down. That's why people lose weight on it, it's an inefficient nutrient source. Fun fact.

All the best kiddo. Have a good one.

Lmao are you serious ? 10% of people ? 😂😂please !

Thankyou bro @harrynewman .. @galactictoast please look at my recent post for an updated version !
