Cooked the catch: Surviving Off Of The Fishing Pole And The Ocean (Bonita)
So, as you guys may know, yesterday we went pier fishing at Hermosa Beach Pier and at the end of the day, my dad was packing up and manage to land a nice size bonita. We were about to go home for the day with an unsuccessful wrap, but my dad spotted a bunch of fish popping on the surface eating minnows jumping everywhere, and he casted out a 1 ounce kastmaster blue/chrome with bucktail right into the school of bonito, and he caught this nice fish.
(Preperation)
I then filleted it, and prepared the fillets. I cooked half in the pan with butter, salt, pepper, and old bay. (skin on) The other half was breaded with japanese breading with some seasoning and fried. (I had to cut the pieces of fried fish into smaller pieces to fry easier)
(Taste)
When I cut open the meat after cooked, it revealed a very white a flakey meat. When I tried it, it was amazing, I tasted like a tender version of tuna. A softer tuna so to speak. Too bad we only caught one because they were so good. I had the opportunity to catch more, but my dad spotted the school and I wasn't paying attention, and he called me but I didn't hear him, so I didn't come in time to catch a few.
Awesome eating fish and they fight really hard.
