Humphry Davy created the first electric light in 1802
Humphry Davy created the first electric light in 1802 using a battery he invented. He connected wires to his battery and a piece of carbon, the carbon glowed, producing light. His invention was known as the Electric Arc lamp. While it produced light, it didn’t produce it for long and was too bright for practical use. Although this isn’t the type of light bulb we use today, it sparked other inventors to create their own versions.
