This reminded me of Alice in Wonderland and Terry Pratchett's Discworld. The situation and the dialogue have the perfect mix of surreal, humor and oddity to keep the reader stuck to the page.
The way the auras take up and twist Shiro's stupefied comments is hilarious. This ending is also an occasion to learn something about how to build a reader's engagement. Enough said... let's all advertise the emotional toothpaste!
