48 Hour Film Festival
So this year my friends and I participated in the 2017 48 hour film festival in Providence Road Island. My team The Riot Agency, the mission, to write, produce and edit a 7 minute film within 48 hours. After the deadline is up, no submissions are excepted. It's a challenging and grueling experience that can really test your stamina and mental state. This was solved easily with a lot of beer fortunately during the final stages of editing.
Some of us pulled double duty, meaning some of us had more then one job. Our Producer, Ken Theriot, Director Lead Editor and Sound, Steward McLaughlin, Director of Photography and Graphics, Roscoe Lamontagne, Gaffer and Assistant Editor Miles Dupree, Production Assistant, Chris McGowan, and Craft Services John, Kirko. Starring Imad Jbara, Alicia Goldberg, Patrick Oyede, Em Cannon, and Chloe Neal.
So I brought with me as much as I could fit in Stews car. I had 1x C-Stand, 1x Three legged stand, 1x HMI light with Ballast, 1x open face 1K light, 1x tripod, 2x Soft Box lighting kits, 1x shoulder rig, reflector board, 1x Venetian Blind, 2, Muslin covers, 3x sand bags, focus pull gear set, 1x AC bag and 1x Duck bill clap. Phew...
We arrived at the 48 Hour Providence Road Island Film Festival head quarters at 6:00pm to register.
We mingled with the crowd a little bit.
We reviewed the strict rules that the 48 Hour Film Festival apply. Some of the rules are that the movie must not exceed 7 minutes and that all paperwork like location music and talent forms must filled out for every character, location, and music used in your film.
Another rule is that you don't get to choose your topic of movie. The topics are a lottery and you pick from a hat. You can choose one topic to film of the other. We chose Romance.
Brain storming.
Brain storming and script writing. We came up with plot and Title, "Fighting For Romance".
We used (Roscoe's @roscoecoin) Sony A7SII. Steady Cam and we had a plethora of lenses, Nikon, Zeiss, Vintage Asahi Pentax and Canon. We shot in 4K even though the end result would be rendered down to 1080p.
We gathered the crew together and started shooting.
We shot a dream sequence with Imad and Chloe.
We took a minute to gather our thoughts.
While the cast took a minute themselves.
Last scenes almost finished.
Back to the lab. Crunch time.
Everyone was editing in a furry.
Adobe Premiere was our program of choice. As it always is.
With no time to spare we headed to the Festival before 7:30pm.
We didn't even have time to render the film out before we left. Stew was in the back seat taking care of last minute things with the edit.
Thankfully we made the deadline.
I had a lot of fun working on the 48 hour film festival. Everyone was super awesome to work with. This will be my 3rd time entering the film festival and actually submitting a project in on time. Thanks to the Riot Agency, the cast especially and crew.
Fighting for Romance
Hope you enjoy it. Lol
