🎬 Movie Review- Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (SPOILERS) 🎬

We start years after the Jurassic World park has been shut down, which leads to a mysterious military squad digging up the Indominus Rex bones beneath the water exhibit. The island's volcano is about to erupt and there is major political debates on whether humans should saved these endangered species. This is where Chris Pratt and Dallas Bryce Howard reconnect in order to save Blue, the very unique Velociraptor. Eli Mills, played by Rafe Spall, has a company to go save multiple species before the end of the island. If you paid attention to literally any advertisements you would know that his intentions were not what he promised (kind of ruined the plot).

Through mediocre humor, non-stop and sometime unnecessary dinosaur action, we get to the company betraying Owen Grady and Claire Dearing. This sets up Eli Mills' story, he wants to capture these dinosaurs and sell them on the black market to just about anyone who is willing to spend the big bucks. I'm serious literally anyone, I think they said a Russian organization was there to buy some dinos. The theme that was driven into this movie was how delicate and how serious of a problem genetic editing could become.

The opening scene of the movie was great, I thought I was headed into another fantastic Jurassic movie. Unfortunately, I was let down. To start, the writing just seemed way too lazy and cliche. They came up short on the humor as well, too many quirky jokes that just were not that funny. It didn't give the characters any more depth than what they established in the first Jurassic World. They preached about how they wanted to create a much scarier Jurassic World than its predecessor. They some what achieved this what a bunch of cheap jump scares. I will say J.A Bayona was able to create some intense and scary scenes, but overall the need for those jump scares overtook the importance of the script.

The overall plot just fell on its face when you found out what the true intentions of Eli Mills' plan. Like what are these people doing with these dinosaurs that they purchase for millions of dollars. There weren't any officials of any country who could have possibly wanted to upgrade their army. In the third act we fully see their new genetic hybrid, the Indoraptor. As scary and intelligent as this creature was, he couldn't even kill a 12 year old. Then we find out the 12 year old, Maesie Lockwood is a clone because of an accident in which the mother and her child died. Her grandfather, Benjamin Lockwood, cloned her. This could easily be a set up movie for the final installment of this trilogy. Exploring the cloning process of humans and and other dinosaur species could easily be the main plot of the next film.

While there were many flaws in this movie, I was entertained from the constant action that was occurring. Loud roars and razor sharp teeth keep you on the edge of your seat at times. The CGI and cinematography of this movie was done very well, we had many shots of the erupting volcano in combination with massive dinosaurs. I just wish they stuck to a more grounded script and plot over the desperate need to make the film scary.
