_{Hello. Today I want to share with you the whole process that means to make a music video from the scratch, and this time I'll make it with a real project we launched recently. Here I'll take you to the different steps of the process, from the Director's idea to the last steps of the post-production. In my case, I'm the Executive and General Producer of the project that was developed by my Production Company, Albur, based in Caracas, Venezuela.
The following text is taken completely from the material delivered to the client on each process. I made also some adaptations specifically to the post.}

- THE ARTIST -

_{Jassiel is a talented young singer from Venezuela. He has 18 years old, was raised among musicians who generated in him the passion for this art. He has managed to position himself in the urban pop genre with great success both in Venezuela and abroad. Currently, we have produced 3 music videos, Quédate, Sobrenatural, and this one I'm talking about. You can watch all of them on his Youtube channel. Jassiel}

- PRESENTATION / PROPOSAL -

Main idea_{Director / Client / Approval of idea and budget}

_{"A Tu Manera" will be a music video with a documentary style, where we will mix the happiness of the people we film with Jassiel, in a very human facet, approaching to the people, sharing with them, inviting them to be happy "in their own way", like the name of the song.}

Director's Vision_@Vadimlasca

_{The false documentary shots will be shoot in the streets of Caracas. This sequences will be prepared and pre-produced to make them look like filmed in a completely documentary way. In them we will see people, in their own environments, in their own lives, in their own way, dancing on camera, being happy, doing an activity rhythmically, covering their faces with smiles, hugging, giving each other a kiss, smiling, enjoying life in their own way, some of those shots with Jassiel, which will give him a more human, more real, closer to his people look. In these shots, Jassiel will sing surrounded by the people he meets (dog walker, mechanic, baker, people sitting in a plaza, grandparents, rollerblader, etc). This interaction will be looking at the camera, an invitation from Jassiel to share with us their happiness and their joy for life..}

Aesthetic Treatment

_{It will be sought that the music video represents life itself, so it will always work with the camera in hand, without special equipment for camera movements, even in the performance will work with this style of camera. The closed shots will be on a tripod since the type and value of the shot must be without movement. At the narrative level, we will play with fast movements of the camera in hand with the shots of the people dancing in slow motion and some street shots with people in them. It will alternate dynamically with the shots of the performance and the close-up shots with lighting effects.}

- PREPRODUCTION -

CREW

<sub>Selecting the perfect team is essential. The production may vary on the number of people depending on the complexity of the project, and, in this case, having a reduced budget invites us to look for department chiefs indicated for this specific type of project. We must reduce the technical team, but never putting at risk the quality and excellence of a good final work. For this music video with documentary format, the team must be quite small, to be able to move quickly through the city and stop at certain locations, in this way, to make the required shots without much mobilization of production.

SCOUTING AND CASTING

_{Both, the locations and the selection of the characters are very important for this music video. They had to be very varied and in areas of Caracas that did not define the city. The scouting took place in the metropolitan area of Caracas in the Chacao Municipality and in the Baruta municipality, under certain specifications of the original idea of the Director. These should be real locations where could look like real places adapted for each character, and even giving us the chance to find some extras.}

PRODUCTION PLAN

_{I leave here a hybrid of what could be a "Production Plan", the budget breakdown, a shooting plan with the respective locations and characters. I merged it in this way to make it easy for you to get an idea of what the structure of a Music Video/Documentary would look like. This is delivered to the client before, with photographs of the locations and the characters selected for approval, as this guarantees the smooth execution of the music video.}

- PRODUCTION -

_{This stage of the production is the moment where all the work previously made is put into action, for this, we all must work together, camera department, lighting department, production, costume, and makeup in a highly coordinated and fast way.}

_{Each audiovisual project has a relatively different production process. Although the video had a little budget, the number of vignettes that should be filmed to make the music video have some sense were many, and it was impossible to make them in a single day because almost all should be filmed outdoors, we decided to make it in two filming days. However, when filming outdoors we will save on lighting, and we will be able to gain in nuances and naturalness.}

_{We decided then to shoot in 2 days, Saturday and Sunday outdoors (street) and Saturday night close-ups of Jassiel in our studio, and on Sunday night the performance with dancers.}

_{I will show you a little bit about the backstage, with some photographs taken by @regulogomez, during the 2 days of filming.}

- POST PRODUCTION -

_{The editing and post-production process took several stages, even in the case of such a "simple" music video. Remember that we had three different types of shots: performance (in white background and black background), closed shots of Jassiel singing on camera and the different vignettes of the stories.
In the first place, the closed shots of Jassiel were taken to lipsync, and the best moments of his interpretation were selected for each of the three values of takes with which we worked. These shots had elements of brightness in front of the lens and even we worked with a technique of lens flare quite original that is based on including a small stone of quartz inside the camera, between the lens and the sensor, in such a way that each ray of light that enters to the camera could create a special halo. Subsequently, the performances on white and or black background with dancers were also taken to synchro, also selecting the best moments of these sequences.}

Lipsync	Colorized	Final Edition

<sub>Finally, each of the vignettes was edited, dividing into three parts according to the evolution of each small story, in order to include them in each stage of the song itself. Once these three timelines were finished, we unified them in a final timeline like the one in the next image. From here it was sent to VFX where details that should not appear in the video were corrected. After this process, the complete video clip was colorized, where the desired style was given, the colors of each scene were unified to the style desired by the director. With this material ready, he went back to Adobe Premiere where some secret details were added to give a more particular look as the Director expected.

_{The post-production and VFX process is incredible. There you can make shine and correct anything you don’t like about your filmed material. As you can see all colors be revealed in the process, and in our case we should remove, in the final composite, some visible brands we could not remove when shooting. This is our last magic step. Of course, after that, there is more work, all the client corrections, post-color corrections, and of course the delivery of the music video in the many different formats needed.}

_{After two days of filming we made a lot of behind the scenes material, all tis filmed by @andreadanielas. Part of our work includes this kind of material like a memory of the project, where all of the team could appear. Here you can see everything we lived during those amazing days. Enjoy it.}
