A surgeon at "The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh" for whom Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had worked as an assistant Liked Holmes, Joseph Bell, he was famous for his ability to draw broadcast conclusions from minutes observation. Francis “Tanky” Smith Sherlock Holmes: Eccentric policeman who cracked his cases in disguise who was Leicester’s first privation detective, is also thought to have influenced the character.

Doyle’s first Sherlock Holmes story first appearedin print in 1887 & continue to next published in the next forty years, until shortly before the author death. During of this time Arthur Conan Doyle had countless adventures;

usually accompanied by his loyal, Friend and AssistantSherlock Holmes Daywas first created in 2013.
