Child's play, a story in 50 words

'Yellow-belly' shouted one. 'Cowardly, cowardly Custard, can't cut the mustard' sang the rest in unison, until finally, the boy standing at the cliff edge, fearing his friends' derision more than the drop, launched himself off the precipice, overshot the water and landed with a bone-crunching smack on the rocks below.

You have such a twisted mind... just like my daughter... :)

I'll definitely take that as a compliment!

It defintely is.... on the other hand, we're currently going through my girl's book trying to find at least one that is decent enough for to read to her Grandma, without scaring the living daylights out of an old lady.

That's a difficult one all right. Most of @honeydue's scribblings are NSGP;)

This is a very powerful one. Perhaps even more so when you interpret it as a metaphor for what drives internet content creation.

Good to know you're lurking somewhere close by. No metaphor was intended, but now you mention it.........

Not too much lurking- on Steemit anyway. But, I am returning very shortly, so hopefully I will be a source of lurkery for others.

I was hoping for a happy ending but alas . That boy should have remembered the saying 'sticks and stone may break my bones but names will never hurt me.

Way too much to hope for m'dear. I just don't do happy endings.

Excellent , so good I could almost hear the bones crunch.

Oh you are awful.......but I like you!

Well done, @deirdyweirdy, but oh ouch! This one hurts. It shows the terrible extreme of peer pressure. It makes me wonder if anyone has ever done a study on how many people die each year due to peer pressure situations. I'm thinking of dares, taunting like this, and fraternity hazings.

I'd say the answer is likely an increasing number since the advent of youtube.

Kids can do dangerous things, especially when in big groups.
Your story made me think about my son and his tricks. 🙂

Yes indeed, peer pressure can lead us to all sorts of risky behaviour.

Another cracker from your good self.

That looks like a GREAT swimming hole! But OMG you can get dark in a hurry, can't you? LOL!

It's a beautiful spot in India, close to the India-Tibet border. I can't quite remember where exactly. And yes, my mother used to say I was born with dark glasses on!

hahaha! another classic situation and tragic event! loved it..pretty much. except the ending was a little painful, didn't know whether to laugh or cry. and dang, somehow I missed this one! sorry. if I don't comment in a day or two and you realize it, tell me about it..say hey how come you haven't commented on my latest post?! probably missed it because there's no artwork!

No worries sweetie. I don't consider my scribblings to be of such significance as to demand your attention.

haha! but it's the brilliant writing and I missed voting on it dang it.
