ODDS TO PROGRESS THROUGH THE QUARTER FINALS

We are entering in the last 16 stage in which more excitement gonna come. Many teams faces ups and down, many unexpected things occured in the group stages but the top 16 teams progressed to the pre quarters. Here are the odds of the teams who can progress through the knockout stage.

France vs Argentina
13/7 in favour of France

Its a very tough job for Argentina to progress through the knockout stages. They firstly had a draw with Iceland and then a humilating defeat from Croatia. But at last they defeated Nigeria to progress through the last 16. While opposite to that France has a relatively easy job to progress, two wins in the first two matches confirmed their seat in the last 16. However both France and Argentina havent performed as expected. So it is interesting to see who will progress.
They had met two times earlier in a world cup and both the times Argentina had won the match.

Uruguay vs Portugal
9/11 in favour of Portugal

Uruguay reached the last 16 with three straight wins and without conceding any goal. L. Suarez is in a great form which is a good news for Uruguay. However, Portugal's Ronaldo is in another form scoring 4 goals in his last 3 matches. Portugal reached the last 16 and their path was a difficult as they have to go past a group in which Spain and Iran are also there.

The odds are just in favour of Portugal because they stopped a serious contendor Spain in a 3-3 draw.
Barca's Suarez and Madrid's Ronaldo will meet first time in the international level and it will be interesting to see who will win the battle.

Spain vs Russia
4/1 in favour of Spain

The 2010 world cup winners who are a serious contendor of world cup have to face two draws against Porugal and Morrocco, but they secured first position in the group due to more goals scored than Portugal. So now they have to face the host of the tournament Russia in the last 16. They doesnt have to underestimate their opponent as Russia qualified for the round of 16 with a stunning fashion securing two straight big wins. But afterwards they fell against Uruguay in a 0-3 defeat.

They have met thrice in the Europian championships in which everytime Spain has won. So Russia will try to prove the odds wrong.

Croatia vs Denmark
17/3 in favour of Croatia

Before the tournament started, Croatia are thinked to be a mid team. But now they are said to be a serious contendor of the tournament. With three straight wins and a huge win over Argentina saw them tops the group. L. Modric is in an unbelievable form who is an increasing threat to Denmark. While Denmark did some work to make it to the round of 16. But they have the potential to defeat big teams. They have the force of C. Eriksen who can be a threat for Croatias defence.

Brazil vs Mexico
15/5 in favour of Brazil

Brazils path to the last 16 was not so straight forward as they had to settle in a point against Switzerland in their first match. However they win their next two match to secure top spot in the group. Mexico journey begins with an unexpected when they beat Germany by a goal to nil. Then they also beat South Korea. However this ia not enough to confirm their qualification as they lost their last match to Sweden but South Korea defeated to Germany to hand Mexico a place in the last 16.

Brazil and Mexico had a match in the previous world cup where the game ends in a 0-0 draw. While Brazil has Neymar and Coutinho in their attack, Mexico has Lozano and Hernandez, so it will be a great match.

Belgium vs Japan
17/3 in favour of Belgium

Belgium are a strong contendor for the world cup. With their golden generation with stars like Lukaku, Hazard, De Bruyne, Courtois they can achieve all they want. They progressed through the round of 16 with some fashion as they secured all three wins including defeating England. While Japan started well in the tournament defeating Colombia and a draw in the next match. However they fell in the match against Poland but ultimately qualified due to fair play. They can turn around things in their favour, so Belgium didnot want to underestimate their opponents.
They had met previously in the 2002 worldcup where the scores settles in a 2-2 draw.

Sweden vs Switzerland
9/11 in favour of Switzerland

Its a tough job for both of the teams to qualify for the round of 16. While Sweden changed their fate in the last match by beating Mexico 3-0 to qualify for the round of 16 from a group in which Germany is also there. While Switzerland also belongs to a group in which Brazil, Serbia and last time quater finalist Costa Rica was also present. However they beat Serbia and two draws with Brazil and Costa rica confirmed their qualification.

Colombia vs England
7/13 in favour of England

Colombia had a very difficult path as they lost their opening match against Japan. But they fightback and wins both their next two matches to top the group.
England confirmed their qualification by winning their first two matches in style but they lost their last match against Belgium.

England has the upper hand but they cannot underestimate the last time quaterfinalist Colombia who can be the surprise package of the tournament.
