1 RUSSIA (SPAIN VS RUSSIA)
Russia produced the biggest upset in this tournament by beating Spain in the round of 16. The host nation beats Spain on penalties to progress through the quarter finals. They have also created a new achievement by progressing through the quarter finals in a world cup for the first time.

Spain are a strong contendor for the world cup. Before the match, it looks like Spain would easily progress through the quarter-finals by beating the Russian side, who has lost his last match against Uruguay. However, Russia managed to keep the score 1-1 and beats them on penalties by 4-3.

2 KOREA REPUBLIC (GERMANY VS KOREA REPUBLIC)
It is the most humiating defeat for Germany as they were beaten by a mid-team. Korea Republic scored two goals in the added time after 90 minutes to create a record.

Germany has a very good chance to progress through the round of 16 by beating the Korean side who had already lost their previous two matches. However the Korean side managed to stop Germany from scoring a goal and also managed to score two goals- in the 91st and 95th minute to goodbye Russia in a stylish fashion.

3 MEXICO (GERMANY VS MEXICO)
Before the tournament, Germany were the favourites to retain the tiltle. But Mexico thrashes their hopes in the opening game with a 1-0 victory from a brilliant play from Lozano. However, the real hero is Ochoa who prevented Germany from scoring a goal.

Mexico outperformed Germany at that match in every field. None of the tactics of Germany can make a difference and it’s the Mexico who gains the upper hand from a brilliant play from Lozano.

4 CROATIA (CROATIA VS ARGENTINA)
Croatia is a much better team this world cup like the previous 1998 team when they managed o reach te semi-finals of the tournament. Croatia thrashed a poor Argentina by a 3-0 score who are already had a draw against Iceland in their first match.

The Croatian side outperforms the Argentinians in every field. The hero of the match L.Modric scored a wonderful goal from outside the box. However, the Argentinians managed to book a place in the last-16 in a tense game against Nigeria which they won by a 2-1 score. However, they lost the pre-quarter-final against France to go back home.

5 JAPAN (COLOMBIA VS JAPAN)
In a tense match between Japan and Colombia, Japan managed to beat Colombia by a 2-1 scoreline. Clearly, the favourites were the last time Quarter-finalist Colombian side but Japan managed to beat them.

The match started not well for Colombia as they were down to 10 men in the 3rd minute due to C.Sanchez red card and then they were 1-0 down in the 6th minute. However they fight back to make the scoreline 1-1 with a brillian free-kick from Quintero. However Honda scored the winning goal for Japan in the 73rd minute.
Anyways, Colombia wins their next two matches to secure the 1st position in the group after the Blue Samurai fellout from Poland.
