Alleluia!!!

I met a beautiful young lady today at Aka road. I had gone to keep an appointment with her boss but unfortunately, he wasn’t around. She is his secretary, so she offered a seat and asked me to wait for him.

This lady is the most beautiful thing I have set my eyes on ever since I arrived this world. Her dimples are enchanting and her eyes are mesmerizing. I leave you to imagine the rest of her physical features. I gazed into her eyes and almost forgot my mission in the office.

As I waited, I listened to the music track playing on her phone.

“Alleluia, alle-alle alleluia
Alleluia, alle-alle alleluia”

I was hooked on the voice of the singer. It sounded like the ethereal voice of Enya, the new age musician, one of my favourite singers. But I know Enya doesn’t do gospel music. I was confused.

I cleared my throat and turned to the lady.

“Excuse me, please what’s the name of this artiste? She sounds like Enya. Is she the one?”

“Yes that’s Enya”

“Wow, I never knew Enya does gospel music”

“No this is not gospel music. The title of the track is Echoes in the rain. It is from her 2015 album, Dark sky land”

My love for the lady increased by a 100 fold. Any girl that listens to Enya’s music is special.

“Can you please send the song to my phone?”

“Okay. Do you have Xender?”

“Yes. I’ll turn it on now….you must love Enya’s music to know details of her last album”

“Oh, I am a huge fan! I have got 169 of her songs on this phone”

“Jeez! Marry me!” I screamed in my mind. 169 tracks? With only 20 tracks on my device i had been thinking I am the greatest fan...smh.

“Please, I need all of them!” I said excitedly to her.

She smiled.

“How am I going to send them to you?”

“Let’s meet tomorrow. Let me take you out on a date, I’ll bring my external hard drive so that you could copy all of them for me”

She smiled once again exposing a set of perfect white teeth while cupid arrows rained down furiously on my heart.

“Wait for the sun, watching the sky
Black as a crow, night passes by
Taking the stars, so far away
Everything flows, here comes another day”

She chanted in a soft tone.

“I am a poet,” she said and winked, “I’ll go out with you tomorrow”

My heart leaped for joy.

“What’s your name?” I inquired.

“I am not going to tell you. A girl has no name” she giggled.

“Oh, mysterious lady…can I call you the Three-eyed Raven?”

She laughed.

“Please give me your phone number” I pleaded.

She called out her number and I saved it.

I couldn’t wait any longer for her boss, so I left the office humming, “Alleluia, alle-alle alleluia”

I called her this evening.

“Yes, 5 pm tomorrow. Call me by 4” She said sweetly.

I have been singing alleluia since then.

You might ask, “What if she is not single?”

My answer is, “Alleluia, alle-alle alleluia!”

“What if she is someone’s wife or long-term fiancée?”

“Alleluia, alle-alle alleluia”

“What if she demands for everything on display at the place you are taking her tomorrow and makes you empty your bank account?”

“Alleluia, alle-alle alleluia”

“What if she is a mami water spirit?”

“Alleluia, alle-alle alleluia!”
