I Should Have Listened --- [Poetry #1]

There was a sunset. Well, there were many.
But there's one that sticks in my mind.

You were there, do you remember?
And we watched it, and you said, "Wow."

Twilight faded into existence and I looked up
and saw a single star in a sky of electric blue.
And I said, "Wow."

And twilight faded into the black of night,
and before we were called in, I looked at you and thought,
Wow.

And you looked at me and smiled.
I knew you could read my mind.
I could read yours.
I'm glad we're friends.

And everyone wants us to be more, but I don't.
I don't want to lose the wow factor of us.
Two people, staring at the sky.
