The Passage on Fox

The Passage is a new post-apocalyptic vampire drama coming to Fox. So if Van Helsing wasn't enough for you, especially now that The Vampire Diaries went the way of True Blood, then don't worry -- there's more where that came from. This might just be the best of all of them, though. It's based on a fantasy trilogy by Justin Cronin and starts out as a government conspiracy before turning into a post-apocalyptic vampire tale. It's all about a girl named Amy who has to save humanity. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a bit for this show. It's filming was delayed until after pilot season because the stunning visual effects need more lead time, so shooting is beginning in June. Sounds like a good reason for a delay to us. The latest news has a mid-season launch as a possibility.

Doomsday on ABC

This one may be pre-apocalyptic rather than post-apocalyptic, but it will still appeal to our readers. Doomsday starts after 9/11, when a think tank is created and tasked with dreaming up world-ending scenarios and their solutions. After the program is shut down, a catastrophe happens that's straight from their playbook. Now the team is brought back to stop all the apocalypses that they dreamed up.

Salvation on CBS

Salvation on CBS will begin July 12. It's about a tech superstar and an MIT grad student who discover an asteroid is just six months away from hitting Earth. Here's a trailer:

Y: The Last Man

This one really has some post-apocalyptic fans excited. It's an adaptation of a popular comic book about the world after an illness almost completely wipes out every male in the world except a man, Yorick, and his monkey. Y is accompanied by a bodyguard and a clone researcher, navigating across America. The show is being written for FX, but there's no word yet on when it will come out. However, it is still happening. Brian K. Vaughan has said that he read a pilot screenplay and it was phenomenal. Good Omens

This novel, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, was recently greenlit by Amazon Studios to be turned into a comedy series. It will debut as a six-part series in 2018 on Prime Video, with Gaiman as the showrunner. In this series, the apocalypse is near, the armies of good and evil are gathering, but an angel and demon aren't liking what's happening. Meanwhile, the Antichrist is missing.

Dark Tower TV Series

Yes, a Dark Tower TV series is likely coming, and we couldn't be more excited about it! The movie is set to be released on August 4 (supposedly.) The TV series is still "possibly" happening too. Originally, it was supposed to focus on the fourth book in the series, with Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey possibly playing younger versions of themselves. However, everything's a little up in the air. Howard told TV Guide that yes, they are still planning to do a TV series component, but "that's not a commitment on the television side." The TV series hasn't been picked up by a network yet, so we're still waiting and crossing our fingers on this one.

Snowpiercer TV Series

Snowpiercer is coming to TV! The show has already begun casting and the hour-long pilot is being produced by Josh Friedman (Avatar 4 and Sarah Connor Chronicles), along with Marty Adelstein (Prison Break and Teen Wolf). It's set seven years after the apocalypse. It will air on TNT, likely sometime in 2018.
