Immediately After the Wedding

Tade: I promise to make the best man. You won’t regret knowing me. You know how much I fast and pray, I speak in tongue, moreso am the prayer coordinator, the anointing is there. I won’t disappoint you maritally.
Bolu: You know I love the way you turn the church around you lead the program. I love your spirituality but are you sure of your words dearie?
Tade: Of course am more than sure….(two days after, Tade calls Bolu)
Tade: (phone rings) hello, can you meet me in the church now?
Bolu: I will be on my way right away. (When she got to church she met him praying. She tapped him and he stops praying) Good afternoon Darling I hope all is well?
Tade: All is well but dear I have something important to talk to you about. We have been into this relationship more than a year now I want us to take it to the next level. I want to have a family of my own. We are not getting any younger (He brings out a ring) Bolu please will you marry me??? (Bolu was very surprised and was already crying)
Bolu: I will marry you dear you don’t know how much I love you (she collected the ring)
Tade: Thanks. You will never regret this. (On their way home) You have made the best choice because if I don’t marry you, you can’t get anybody better than me again. Thank you once again. (Days passes by and preparation of their wedding has already started)

Pastor: Say after me “I……..take you……..as my beloved husband…….” (this was repeated for the couple and they were pronounced husband and wife. Their wedding was a grand one because they are both from average families and Tade was also very fervent in church, the church really supported them… After the whole celebration people wished them well and bade them good bye)
Bolu: Let’s go and have a very cold bath. Am very tired
Tade: You’re tired? Am also tired but I must fulfill my first obligation on my wife tonight.
Bolu: But we can suspend that till tomorrow dear am all yours now.
Tade: I can’t wait any longer you don’t know how long have been longing to have you. Let’s just go and bath.
Bolu: But don’t you think we should take things easy? Am really tired for God’s sake let’s just rest tonight.
Tade: I can’t take it any longer you just have to bear it. Even God will be angry if we don’t do this tonight. (After they took their bath, the husband forced his way into the wife. She had no choice she couldn’t say anything)
They went to do their wedding thanksgiving in church the next day. On getting home
Tade: I am very hungry sweetie please make haste with your cooking
Bolu: I will soon be done dear (The food was served and they ate together)
Tade: Make sure you add more salt next time, the food is tasteless. (Bolu was very angry but before she could talk Tade has started talking again) I have many dirty clothes I will love you to wash for me right now. I don’t have anything to where again.
Bolu: Many??? How come???
Tade: I stopped washing 2 months to our wedding
Bolu: Are you kidding? How on earth will you do that? Did you marry a slave?
Tade: I don’t care what you call it just help me wash. The clothe is under the bed.
Bolu: I thought have told you today that I want to rest. All my body still aches.
Tade: God will strengthen you. Am the head and you must take to my orders. (Bolu left angrily to wash. She washed till around 8pm. Tade didn’t come to check on her till she was done washing. Bolu met him washing the television)
Tade: Welcome dear please am hungry, what are you cooking for the night?
Bolu: Is this the man I married? (Sobbing) You told me you would be a better husband, is this your definition of being better? Our marriage is barely 2 days and you’re treating me like this. What have I gotten myself into??
Tade: Are you talking to me like that? Who do you think you’re? Am a very spiritual person and you’re talking to me this way; you don’t even respect God in my life.
Bolu: you don’t know God. You’re just a silly pretender
Tade: (He moves close to her and give her a dirty slap) Never say that to me in your life again.
(Days after days, things get worse between them. Pastors, their parents interfered but things remain the same. Bolu was ready to leave 6 months after the wedding. Tade wasn’t home but she left a note for him)
Bolu: I never know you could turn out to be like this. I don’t know spirituality alone can’t do it. Many people see you outside and they pray to be like you yet they don’t know you’re a useless woman beater. They see us outside and think we are happy together because we pretend to be happy to them but in the house we make the worst couple. I can’t cope again. Good bye for good.

MORAL LESSON: Don’t marry anyone with your own understanding. Seek the face of God, only Him can’t mislead you. And never wish to be like anyone, you have no idea what they are going through. Marriage is more than what we singles think it is. It’s not just a bed of roses. Don’t be blind to all the signs the person has been giving. Love is not blind. We will not miss it martially by his grace. God will lead us all.
