The Great Challenge - Week 17
Another week of...wait for it...success.
Yep, still going strong on The Great Challenge with Dean. I spent last week up in Vegas, as a proof of concept for a new living/working arrangement I have in mind as part of my get-the-hell-out-of-California-before-the-collapse plan. Looks like that arrangement will work out pretty well.
Now I just need to square away a couple residual financial things from the divorce and I'll be ready to start putting plan into action. Deliberately, of course. No huge rush.
Anyway, even though I was up in that awesome location, I managed to keep my focus and get at least the one story done last week. Should have written more, to be frank. But in addition to day job work I was exploring, getting a feel for neighborhoods, things like that. So I'll forgive myself for only having written 5,444 words in the week.
Here's the tally of challenge stories so far.
- Red Orchid - Romance - 3,800 words
- Debts And Obligations - Sword and Sorcery - 14,200 words
- Naughty And Nice - Modern Fantasy - 4,800 words
- Popper's - Mystery - 4,100 words
- The Case Of The Missing Rocker - SciFi/Mystery - 7,200 words
- Fences And Neighbors - Post-Apocalyptic - 4,800 words
- Give A Dog A Bone - Doggy Mystery - 3,200 words
- Untitled - Romance - 5,300 words
- Lost On Cordant Station - Science Fiction - 8,560 words
- Kicking The Anthill - Urban Fantasy/Adventure - 3,863 words
- VIP Treatment - Modern Fantasy - 6,012 words
- A Man Of Faith - Religious/Supernatural Thriller Maybe? - 9,013 words
- Abe's Liquors - Romantic Suspense - 2,951 words
- Cave Diving For Dummies - Sea Story/Suspense - 3,491 words
- Work Release - Science Fiction - 4,910 words
- Miss Melody And The Elf Spa - Fantasy - 4,175 words
- Joyride To The Moon - YA Science Fiction - 5,444 words
That brings it to 95,844 words total for this challenge, and 133,731 words for the year over the span of 70 hours (1,910.44 words/hr on average).
If anyone cares, I'm averaging 5,638 words per story in the challenge so far. Decent length for short fiction, I suppose.
Speaking of decent length for short fiction, don't forget Doppelganger is out there for all to read and buy - from me and from all the other retailers out there.
So show a brother some love and read it, will ya? ;)
I'm continuing my trend of Bookfunnel promotion participation. This month I'm once again giving away Glimmer Vale (Glimmer Vale Chronicles #1) in the Heroes and Heroines promotional giveaway. If you haven't read it yet and you don't mind joining my mailing list, go on over and have a look. There are also some 80 other authors participating. Plenty of great books to choose from.
If you enjoy my work and wish to help me continue creating fun stories, consider becoming a supporting patron here on the website. Just a few dollars a month will go a long way toward enabling me to produce more great works for your enjoyment.
And don't forget to sign up for my newsletter, to stay informed of new releases and special deals. Guaranteed to be spam free, and I won't share your information with anyone without a court order.
