Where we left off last time...

Dear Diary,
Today went pretty well. It was good to see my friends again, and they loved the roses, but with getting ready to be new parents, they found themselves busier with others who were either in the same preparation stages as them or were already active parents so I left the shower early. I didn’t go anywhere else except home. I took a nap around 7:30 p.m. listening to a radio podcast about some rumors about an illness that was being spread but had no concrete evidence of existing. I didn’t deem it important enough to listen to since no cases have actually been reported, and this was the first time I ever heard of it. Anyway, I think I will actually go to bed now. I don’t have anything else that I want to do tonight.
Reporting back soon.

Except, I never did.
Trying to think back on possible reasons why I suddenly dropped from it for two years, I heard Kellie open her bedroom door and walk into the living room in her pajama and fuzzy pink slippers. She has her straight auburn hair tied in a messy bun and is rubbing her tired eyes as she sleepily greets me. Kellie didn’t say anything. She glanced at me once her eyes adjusted, and I watched silently as she slowly looked around the room, returning her gaze to me. I gave her a warm smile.
“Good morning, Kellie,” I wave to her. She pursed her lips, and returned a half-wave back. I can tell she didn’t wake up for a midnight chat.
“Hi, Vikki. I’m sorry, but um—” She shakes her head a little. “Did you hear any noise come from outside a little bit ago?” I nod and explain. “Well, something hit my window and made loud a sound. I am sorry if I also might have woken you up, but it was so sudden and startled me so I decided to calm myself again by relaxing out here and hanging out on the web.”
She looks around again, shaking her head as she spoke. “No, I did hear you, but I was awake before you opened your door. It could’ve been the window, I guess.”
“You sound unsure.” I turn to face towards her more at this point, but she turns her body towards the direction of her room.
“I’m probably over thinking it. It sounded like something else was out there, but it was most likely my imagination. I am going to try and sleep some more since I have work in the morning. You should try to as well.” She walked back to her room, clearly still a little unnerved. Her tone didn’t hide that very well. I suppose anyone would be unsettled after being awoken like that, and hearing the strange noises from the before and after the window was hit. I didn’t want to mention that blood was on it because I didn’t want to raise cause for more concern so early in the day.
I decided I would just sleep on the couch tonight and investigate later when it was light outside. I grab my folded blanket from the basket beside the couch and lay my head down on the pillow, closing my eyes.
