Challenge #02627-G070: When You Assume...
Considering the cultural difference between western people and eastern people, how would aliens react to someone from Asia?
Asian people tend to be less touchy-feely, more reserved and quiet than someone from America for example.
How would aliens react when the shy-looking, timid Japanese girl, who joined their ship as a chef, turns out to be a master of martial arts and make dinner from the would-be pirates because they belittled her? Or how loud she gets when she's properly drunk... -- Tom

In the wake left by Human Bil, Human Jin made the crew of the Reckless Poker think they had gone deaf for a short space of time. This was yet another reminder that Humanity was wide and varied and the way one Human "rolled" was not the same as another.
Her official role was 'chef', though she was also Ships' Human. The Humans were, after all, used to holding multiple jobs and titles. They could even switch between the two at will, should they so wish. Human Jin seemed most comfortable with the job of Chef, and created works of art in every plate.
They were excruciatingly polite, soft-spoken to the point of whispering, and painfully aware of any and all class distinctions aboard. Butter, as the Humans might say, wouldn't melt in her mouth. Some of the Shygron thought she might be a defective Human, but those whispers stopped cold at the very next Vorax raid on the Reckless Poker.
Human Jin was smaller than Human Bil, and therefore able to get into the maintenance access tunnels a great deal quicker than Human Bil ever had. She was habitually quiet, and none of the other kitchen staff knew she was gone until each of them went looking for her. They were quick on the uptake, though, and noticed that Human Jin had taken some of the really sharp knives with her. The ones that could, in the wrong circumstances, cut through bones[1].
The kitchen staff took note of the missing knives, tidied up the work in progress, and retired to their life pods to watch the ensuing chaos via security video.
Humans can be relied upon to be territorial, possessive, and downright vengeful when their pack is threatened. Just how each of them do that is up to the Human in question. Given the stereotypes surrounding Human Jin's ethnicity, the Shygron expected an explosion of martial arts awesomeness. What they got was tactical use of bladed weapons and ordinary household chemistry with a side of Down Dirty Fighting, as Human Bil once called it.
It was not pretty. It was never meant to be pretty. It was meant to take down the greatest number of enemies in the least amount of time, with the least amount of damage to the Reckless Poker, her crew, or Human Jin herself.
Only three of the original raiding party were able to leave.
Human Jin sounded the all-clear, helped with the cleanup, then returned to the kitchen to re-sharpen her knives. As quiet and unassuming as she had always been before.
[1] Many Humans agree that, in a Vorax raid, the ability to cut through bone is actually the correct circumstance.

As cool as martial arts action would have been (because I do love kung fu movies XD) it was nice and different to have the tiny Asian person do things that a normal person might do in abnormal situations XD
By the way are you coming to hive?
I know not what hive is at this point and I'm kind of afraid to ask...
I have my fingers in so many pies it's hard to keep track of anything.
Extremely short version: it's a hardfork of steem that a lot of people (including me) have shuffled off to. (I recommend using peakd as it works a lot better out of the box but you can use the condenser version at hive.blog if you like condenser/the steemit 90s look :))
but I'm commenting here now you ask? I'm keeping an eye on powerdowns and also checking up on any stragglers I follow that don't know what's going on or don't want to move for whatever reason so I'm still commenting but not going to be posting here anymore
You may have to use steempeak or busy or a frontend that isn't steemit to find out the backstory as the new owners of steemit have been censoring posts (for their and everyone else's own good of course) if you really want to.
I found it and it looks like it mirrors just fine. Shall swap to writing stories there ASAP.
