To play second fiddle- Story- Chapter 1
Julia sat in court waiting for her turn to be called to the stand. She was nervous and stressed. She has never been to court before, and she never thought she would actually have to ever go through this, but there was no other way. Peter had done many things to her during their lifetime together, and she had always forgiven him, but this time was just too much to handle.
She gave up all her dreams for him. She was the one working while he was studying, and she supported them. When he finally graduated and struggled to find the right job, she provided, and then when he finally found his dream job, he made her quit her job.
He wanted to look after her now. After the kids were born she was glad that she did not have to work and they kept her busy full time. She got to be the best mother she could be and she could spend all her precious time with them and provide them with a safe home.
Once they left the house, there was not much left of their relationship, and she even suggested that they went for counseling but Peter refused. He was happy, or seemed happy with the way things were.
She spent a lot of time with her friends, took on a new hobby but she still felt empty. She wanted to see the world and when she suggested that they go on a trip, Peter always had some excuse. He was either too busy at work, and even said that now was not the right time.
She waited patiently but it was all in vain. When he phoned her that afternoon to tell her that he was working late again, she decided to surprise him with dinner at the office.
What a surprise it was. She found them in his office and when she realized what was happening she just closed the door behind her and walked away.
He tried to explain, but she didn't want to listen. She had done enough waiting and listening to others in her lifetime, and it was time that she started listening to her inner self.
She filed for divorce. He threatened her, and told her that if she went ahead she would walk out with nothing. She didn't care, but she knew that it was not so easy. Her lawyer was good, and he worked out a fair deal for the both of them, but Peter was not willing to give up the fight so easily.
He refused to sign the agreement, and that is why they were in court today. She wanted her share, and he was going to pay for what he did to her.
