ANGEL Episode 1

It was a typical rainy season day in the Tipo neighborhood with the rains beating relentlessly on the aluminium rooftops of the elegant brick buildings. The streets were deserted as it was still early in the morning and the heavy downpour had also managed to keep few early risers indoors.
This was not so for Chike though. He carried on his normal routine for two years of jogging round the neighborhood without caring about the heavy downpour and the flooded the streets. Nothing could dampen his high spirits nowadays. He had a newspaper publishing company worth billions of naira, a beautiful wife Camille and two grown up children Tayo and Titi. 'What more can a man ask for? ' he thought. He was fit as fiddle and he had made sure that his enemies were totally vanquished to avoid surprises. His thoughts kept wandering as he kept a regular pace splashing water as he moved. As he turned a bend, he didn't notice the movement by the side of the road until it was too late. There was a faint pop and he fell down. Blood was gushing from his stomach and soon he was lying in a pool of his blood. His assailant came closer and stood over him. The killer removed his mask and Chike let out a surprised yelp as he saw the face of his killer. Why? He asked. His assailant answered by putting two more bullets in his chest. Chike drifted into darkness wondering how he had made the fatal error of underestimating his killer which proved to be his undoing.
