Hanging From My Rearview - Preface - Part 1

After two and a half years of probation, a young man is poised with many difficult decisions. William had been dating his girlfriend, Ally, for approximately ten months. When he met her she was wearing these tight silver spandex leggings. William couldn’t help but notice her voluptuous ass. It was the kind of ass that would make any man daydream about a sexual encounter. The silver leggings made her ass shine like two sexy disco balls. It was hypnotizing to say the least. At the time of their meeting, William was between court cases. Before we discuss Ally’s role in his life, we need to jump back in time and explain how William began his downward spiral into criminal activity and psychosis.

When Ally and William met he had just finished two years of probation he received as a result of binge drinking on one hot April night. He would have successfully completed the two years of probation, but Jenny, the woman William had been dating for the last eighteen months, lost her mind when William decided to end their relationship. She caused a huge scene at her house and some pesky neighbor got involved and called the police. The neighbor didn’t know that Jenny was attacking William and screaming to cause a scene. Jenny had the classic victim mentality and when the police arrived she was somewhat honest about the events but turned her account of them against William, saying that he had attacked her. The police saw that William was on probation. This made him the guilty party. They left Jenny’s and arrived at his house many hours later to arrest him for assault on a household member and for violating probation. William attempted to plead his case to the officers; however, like most police officers do with probationers, they just dismissed his pleas and placed him under arrest.

That resulted in a short vacation to the local metropolitan detention center only to be released on an ankle bracelet for the remainder of his probation and left to face yet another court case. During the eight months of freedom that William had between his two years of probation and the pending court case, he reverted to his old ways. He began selling high grade cannabis like he had done prior to probation. He had some sexual encounters with a slew of women to get past the failed relationship with Jenny. William then attempted to have a relationship with a crazy redhead named Wendy. When Wendy came along William really needed the comfort she provided. Around the same time, Ally and William began chatting via Facebook and Twitter. William couldn’t help the fact that he was falling for Ally, but was unsure about where the relationship would go. You could say he was emotionally cheating on Wendy.

William was 27 and Wendy had a few years on him. She made it clear that men always catch hard feelings for her and she would end up breaking their hearts. Unfortunately for Wendy, that was not the case with William. After about a month, he was at Wendy’s house when some type of argument erupted, resulting in William sprinting from there half naked with most of his clothes in hand. She then began spouting numerous threats to call the police and inform them of his cannabis sales. William was already violating conditions of release by selling cannabis and took the threats very seriously. That night he loaded copious amounts of weed into his SUV and drove to a familiar apartment complex nearby. William parked in a section of the apartment parking lot making sure to avoid the street lights. He then proceeded to smoke himself stupid and sleep in his vehicle.

The next day William went back to his house to find a threatening email from Wendy. While he was running out of the house, he told Wendy that it was over and apparently she didn’t take that as well as he thought she would. William attempted to make peace about the situation with an email apologizing for the events that occurred the previous night. She replied with more threats and vowed that she would have revenge for breaking her heart. This time she was the one who caught feelings and obviously didn’t know how someone could reject her before she rejected them. After multiple emails sent back and forth, William decided to just ignore her. William didn’t have the intention of hurting Wendy. After all, she said she was a grown woman and could easily control her feelings.

That same day William developed the courage to ask Ally to come to his house and watch movies. William was thrilled when Ally agreed to come over. She parked in the driveway at William’s house in her little silver Kia Soul. They had started watching some movie when William received a phone call from Wendy. She was irate, calling him a piece of shit and a player, just like all the other men she dated. She told him she was parked outside his house and started blurting a hefty amount of expletives about how William already had another woman in his bed.

In reality, this was the first time that Ally and William had hung out. He had told Ally about Wendy taking the breakup badly and that she was actually parked outside of the house. Ally was nervous that in the heat of passion Wendy might vandalize her vehicle. William walked outside to check on Ally’s vehicle and Wendy sped off in her Mustang with the tires screeching. The drama from the situation shook Ally up a little bit but she chose to stay anyway. Ally and William spent the night watching movies while their natural chemistry stirred they still managed to keep their first date respectful and limited themselves to some cuddling.
