Anomaly [Short Fiction]
"It seems I found something!" Gold said gladly, removing his headphones.
The ears were buzzing from the tension, during the last two hours they had to listen only to the inclination of radio waves and the reinsertion of a faulty transmitter.
"Listen," Gold leaned back on a chair.
The forest presented the headphones to the ear. His face stretched out in a smile.
"What is this frequency?"
"116.17", Gold answered.
"Call Boylde. It seems we found something that would make him shut up."
"And where are you doing your old car?" Asked one of the passengers of the subway.
The doctor, hesitating briefly, answered:
"Sold. Fortunately The car was damned. It did not take weeks as a buyer died, sitting straight behind the wheel."
"Nonsense," entered the conversation Boild. "I knew that type. He got drunk and fell asleep. Here's the truck and shamakalized. "
"No matter how," the doctor continued, wiping the vapor with his handkerchief from his forehead. - And a week before the sale, I moved my bush to my kolymma.
"The bush?" the participants of the conversation were surprised.
The doctor took off his glasses and spoke a quieter tone:
"Yes, a bush. Some plant, because of it I always had to go to the detour, but this time I drove straight on it. As it turned out, this bush was grown by a local witch. And..."
The doctor did not speak, because Boild laughed loudly and laugh.
"You... say, bush," he said, laughing. "Cursed bush? Ha-hehe. I am a specialist in abnormal phenomena, but I hear this kind of bug for the first time! Sorry to the doctor, I would listen to your funny story, but now it's my stop."
Boild rose from place and left the car.
There was a long-awaited call at the door. The forest hastened to open, he moved smoothly, as if flying. A happy smile appeared on her face, when the door, as was supposed to be, saw Boild.
" hope something serious," began the specialist, not saluted.
"Not that word, we found evidence of the existence of the afterlife," explained Forest, missing the guest. "So-called: white noise."
"Sounds intriguing. And where is he"
"Here it is," the Forest carried Boilda to radio equipment, where Gold was already bulging. - Listen to this.
The specialist put on his headphones. The Forest and Gold looked. A gust of cool wind blew into the room. A couple of minutes later, Boild spoke:
"Yeah. Voices of ghosts mean!
"Yes, and they talk about each other about little things, about trivia, life problems. As if they think that they are still alive. They say they are not long. This happens at different frequencies, it is very difficult to trace. Some with such terrible interruptions that words can not be disassembled, only voices. Well, than not a scientific discovery?" Forest finished the speech and waited for the answer.
"I just do not know what to say! Listen to phone calls... yes, this is a scientific discovery!"
"Telephone conversations?"
"Well, what else? And you really thought that these are ghosts? Aliens? Otherworldly? Another reality? It's just funny to hear. Let's do it better, and suffice it to chase after what does not exist."
"But how..." Gold began to noticeably upset.
"Believe me. I have been working for the first time and I've already heard such false sounds already. These are telephone conversations."
"Come on, but these sounds are not just people," the Forest was outraged.
"Telephone conversations, distorted radio broadcasts, TV - finally! Ghosts do not exist," explained Boild.
"If they did not exist, you would not have a job!"
"I work only for the sake of the world finally to understand that any supernatural phenomenon can be explained. Everything is subject to the laws of physics."
"What you refuse to accept for reality does not mean that it does not exist at all."
"It would be better if you were hooked up with conversations. And then, after all, people can consider it an invasion of privacy, and so on, God forbid, there will be problems with the police," said Boyd, a cellphone.
"Who is it? What about a new businessman?" the Forest was pleased.
"Yes?" Boild began, responding to the challenge. "Again the house with ghosts. Ok i'm going."
"House with ghosts? I have to see it."
"No Forest, do not even think."
"But we are friends. You must take me with you. I have never seen a specialist working on abnormal events."
"No, I'm sorry, it will not work out," said Boyld.
"Huh, will you go as always on the subway?
"Yes, ah," the specialist handed over an abnormal phenomena, suspecting something wrong.
"But the matter is urgent! I have a car!" Insisted Forest.
"It is excluded."
"But why do not you want to take me with you, because it's not dangerous at all?"
"Absolutely," said Boild, he was about to leave, but Forest stood on his way.
"Well, please, if we go there, and there will not be any ghosts, I will always forget about the supernatural and will never do any more nonsense!"
"Well, you're tired of me, but keep in mind that this is the first and last time."
"It worked brilliantly."
"You're right," Boyd smiled smugly.
" You convinced me that ghosts do not exist, congratulations."
"In fact?" an abnormal phenomenon specialist raised his eyebrows astonishingly. "It's nice to hear it. And where are you driving me? He asked, worried looking around, my house on the other side."
The car drove to the clear road, and rushed to the forest floor. The urban noise of the verse, the sun blocked by high trunks of trees, felt the smell of needles.
Forrestbreaked down.
"And now let's take no jokes," he picked up a revolver from his pocket.
"What a joke? What does all this mean ?!" from surprise Boild almost did not jump on the spot.
"I know who you really are! If you make at least one movement, I will shoot you alive!"
"Good, okay, calm down," the specialist's voice has noticeably softened.
"Do not even think to get your sparkle or what else you erase there memory! Though you get drunk and you're dead, did you understand? A sweat stream broke down from Forrest's forehead, and hands with a revolver shook from fear."
"We erase the memory? Are you playing me? I do not understand what you say!"
"Enough! I know everything! Who do you work with? CIA, government, president? - The boy's nerves were exposed to the limit. "Do you think I did not know anything about it? You think I did not understand that you specifically exclude all the unsuitable versions of science to hide the truth? Why are you hiding everything from us ?!" Why do not you want humanity to know the truth about the existence of the supernatural ?!
"Forest, listen, I do not really know why you suddenly decided that I'm hiding something from humanity, but I'm ready to listen to you." Let's down the revolver, and we'll calmly discuss everything, is it going?
"Do not even think! I always wondered why whatever I found, whatever the most plausible and convincing evidence I found, you always appear and refute it. Soon once, I was not interested in your personality. And I know that I learned about you a specialist! The last person with your name died 40 years ago. Nowhere is there a single record, about your birth, about your childhood, or about your relatives. You do not count in one document as a citizen of this country. You are a man from nowhere, which appeared only 8 years ago."
"Oh, that's it," Boild sighed imploringly. "Why did you need this, buddy?" I admit I am an emigrant.
"Stop! I count up to three!"
"You will not shoot."
"If you do not tell the truth, millions will know about you!" I am sure that your journalists or authorities will certainly be interested in your person.
Boild has changed in the face. Instead of misunderstanding and surprise, his usual calm and arrogance returned to him.
"One!"
"Believe the guy, you better not know this."
"Two!"
"Well, why do you always throw your nose, where should not?"
"Three..."
"I warned."
The forest suddenly felt a sharp pain in the heart.
"What did you do to me... did?" He swallowed hard, breathing heavily, wanted to pull the trigger, but dropped the gun, and grabbed his heart with both hands.
"President? The government? Oh no, "Boild smiled ominously, something flashed in his eyes. "Those to whom I work are much more powerful figures. And believe them, they do not like at all when there are such hard-nosed intellectuals like you. Humanity does not need to know anything, it must remain blind, deaf and inactive, you understand?"
Forrest could not speak, he rushed all over his body on the car's shoulder and eagerly swallowed the air in his mouth.
"Do you know that I will tell you all about your death, man?" Boild picked up the gun and locked himself behind the belt. "You drank too much coffee, and caffeine, accumulated in your blood, unexpectedly caused fibrillation of the ventricles of the heart. Yes, it happens. And I, of course, tried to save you... hey, are you listening?
Forrest moved to move, the whole body was petrified, and in the eyes froze immense horror.
"I tried to save you," continued Boild. "But, despite all my attempts, you passed away. In the end, I do not carry a defibrillator with you! Ahh-ha-ha-ha!"
