This is not my story, or anyone's story really. This story does not occur during any particular time or specific location. The writings that follow are the attempts of a ghost to move physical reality into a mask that may be worn by its ethereal form, pretending to be alive once more, even though it had never really felt alive before. The ghost reaches out it's tendrils of ectoplasm in search of a skeleton to animate. Wrapping around bone, through dust, like a vine climbing through a tree towards the sun. A fox is formed by deaths hand under the moonlight and it howls because it does not want to be alone anymore.
"You say a lot of ridiculous shit." He smirk's and nods in response as he drinks more blood from a chalice made from the skull of Alice. She lost her mind on their last trip to wonderland so they figured they would be doing her a favor by getting rid of the vehicle that housed her brain.
"I say it because I am bored and don't give a fuck about anything anymore." Edgar hated this conversation, the one where he had to explain why he was such an edgy drama queen.
"Well, maybe you should try being bored in more productive ways, like cutting fire wood?" Retorted Leeroy, whose sharp response was blunted by the echoing of a gunshot. The valley fell silent, Edgar and Leeroy found cover behind a boulder. The silence continued for what seemed to be an eternity to Edgar who was scared senseless by the fact that he could not locate the source of the sound that had just deafened the valley. After a few more minutes of silence, Edgar and Leeroy unpack the reason why they have journeyed into the desert. "Whatever caused that explosion should be out of our way by now if it was on the move." Speculated Edgar as Leeroy responded with a muffled grunt over the tea he was preparing for the 'trip.'
Two dishes of muddied water sat in between Edgar and Leeroy. The dishes contained myceliumkrstalite tea, derived from the native fungi of planet Driestark and a mineral found in the caves near the core of the planet. The tea was made every full moon to celebrate the end of the planets harvest cycle. The tea was consumed by only two people during the end of harvest ceremony; the priest and the initiate.
In this story, the priest was Leeroy, who would ensure that Edgar's psyche made it back to reality in one piece; that way he wouldn't end up like Alice. They drank the tea and the desert floor melted like a pack of crayons in a frying pan. The melted desert floor rippled like an ocean and balled itself up into a sphere revealing a galaxy of space and stars.
